  1. What's the big fuss, benne dosa is full of butter, that's it. Every dosa for that matter every item cooked by a different person has something plus and minus.

  4. The authentic OG Davangere Benne Dosey would be more porous and spongy (channa dal, urad dal and long fermentation process). What you ate is almost perfect but not exactly. Moreover the palya (alu sabzi) is never tempered. It is just mix of mashed boiled potatoes, salt and boiled onions. Thats it. Chutney also looks a little different. Basically DBD is a different dish compared to traditional Dosey.
