Animal Kingdom’s Rainforest Cafe | Tourist Trap Or Worth It? Disney World Dining Series

This is Part 3 of our 4-part series where we dine at every table-service restaurant in Disney’s Animal Kingdom to find out which one we think is the BEST! This series includes detailed reviews of Yak & Yeti, Tusker House, Tiffins, and Rainforest Cafe.

To be honest, before dining here, we expected this to be the weakest option of the bunch. For those who don’t know, Rainforest Cafe is run by Landry’s. It’s a chain restaurant that’s intricately themed to a rainforest, with a dining area packed full of animatronic animals.

The experience here can be a little too stimulating for some, but it’s often a favorite among younger guests. The cuisine is an amalgamation of different culinary styles.

Interestingly enough, Landry’s also operates Yak & Yeti, another restaurant located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom that we consider to be one of the best restaurants in Walt Disney World.

In this video, we attempt to remove our bias and see if the experience here can overcome what we’ve felt in the past was mediocre cuisine. We explore the animals, shows, and theming, and try the majority of their signature menu items.

At the end, we compare Rainforest Cafe to Yak & Yeti to determine whether this location is truly worth visiting or just another tourist trap.

  1. so i havnt been missing anything not going to rainforest cafe but wish i brought the grandkids when they were little

  2. I go to The Rainforest Cafe every trip. It looks like they took off my wrap. Next trip we are going to T-Rex for the grandson. I mainly go for the free points I have and no wait with my Landry membership. I was getting sadder and sadder each review 😂. You missed one good thing in 2022. It was meatloaf with cheese inside. It was delicious. Hopefully T-Rex has good food.

  3. It definitely reminds me of being a kid, I was always in awe of the place and the rainforest storms. As an adult, give me something more boujie 😂 they should theme the food a bit more perhaps (zebra banana split, charcoal lion print on the burger bun, chocolate animal discs on the cheesecake). 🎉

  4. Unfortunately places like RainForest Cafe is just too overstimulating for me. The only time I went I couldn’t eat because of the noise and flashing lights.

  5. I love Animal Kingdom that was a to-go place every time we went to Disney for Thanksgiving e cuz they had a nice Thanksgiving special the food's good ok good the experience is better and we have one here in Atlantic City where we just came from actually we have a similar theme park cup Cupard lol you noth look great
    thank you
    ❤❤❤❤😢

  6. Hat and ears game were on point.

I try not to be pretentious about my distaste for Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex, there are just so many more interesting options in Disney Springs and Animal Kingdom. The last time I was there was when my nieces and nephews were under 10 in the era when Disney Springs was still Downtown Disney in Orlando and there were far fewer dining options. I remember the food being fine, but I couldn’t tell you what I ordered; there’s probably only a small chance it still exists on the menu even if i remembered. I think it’s as you described, exactly what you think it will be nothing more, nothing less.

  7. Jay and Sam, all theme park foodie fans know that when that notification comes in, it sets the tone for a joyful week. You both bring a vibe that is second to none. Every video is more than just the food; it's a total dive into a most awesome time, filled with enjoyment that is guaranteed to bring a smile and a break from the day, and we appreciate it, as I know all fans do. The Animal Kingdom videos once again are fantastic. This restaurant, as you both know, has polarizing opinions. One thing that can't be argued is the immersion; it's an experience all its own. Time to HYPE this one. Thank you both. Catching up on Friday's video!

  8. We always heard rainforest was nasty so we never went. Good to see the your thoughts on it and not all negative so thats a good thing.

  9. I love the bruschetta at Wolfgang Puck, it is delicious. I tried the one here too, and found it was just pretty good. It was not wonderful. Thanks for another great review!

  10. We find the two Rain Forest Cafes and the T-Rex Cafe are to LOUD for us. Liked your review, but we always do. We also found the food average, but they do give you a lot.

  11. Sam And Jay you guys given them 7's I felt you guys were kind and generous. I have never met a Rainforest Cafe I liked. It's a restaurant you deal with to make sure the kids have fun.

  12. There's nothing I hate more than being rushed out at a restaurant! "They couldn't get us out fast enough!" Yikes! The only thing I've only had at Rainforest Cafe (on the West Coast) is the Margarita Pizza. It was good. The atmosphere is fun, though!

  13. My wife and I started talking while watching this and we were also saying that this place is only appropriate if you’re a local. As much as I would love to go to a RFC again, there are too many great places out there. Places that I only know about because you both do such a good job showcasing so many places. Great review!! Also #HYPEClub!

  14. Lunch/Dinner at Rainforest Cafe/TRex in AK or Disney Springs is a touch better than something like a Chili's IMO. It's fun enough to do with kids under 12 or if you're with adults that are just more into "fast casual" food. I also like them more than Planet Hollywood.

I do think you should try out the Breakfast because it is the only Rainforest Cafe that does breakfast so it is a unique menu to AK. It isn't going to change your life but I think it's better than the lunch/dinner and it could give something like the House of Blues brunch a run for its money.

  15. Very cute hat, Sam!!

That’s so weird that they own both and the food quality is so different. I personally wouldn’t waste my time there when we’re on vacation. It’s never been a really good food experience for us there. It is a very nice atmosphere and my kids really enjoyed that when they were a little younger.

    The mug is cute!

We also have a cupboard like yours filled with Disney.

Always a great time with you both! Great video!!❤️❤️

  16. All about the atmosphere, Our grandchildren loved it ,Loved the vlog, so funny and enjoyable,Love you guys,

  17. I was worried about the quality of food here, but now I'm worried about the quality of animatronics – wow they are rough! Jay looks really good in the colors of that shirt. Very fetching, and I love your hat Sam, that is so cute!

  18. Love Sam’s hat – very cool

Went to Yard House last week got the chicken nachos- really good for $10 less
