Food is incredibly important in Red Dead Redemption 2. Perhaps most impressively, all of the food throughout the world is meticulously designed and realistically animated—so much so that it often makes me wonder: what does that taste like? Well, I’d like to find out. Starting with the saloons, let’s take a look at the real food of Red Dead Redemption 2.

  1. A reminder that arthur had TB and is just reaching into a pickled egg jar that the public be eating out of

  2. So, word about the lamb fry, look at the portion of meat and how its served. Small fistful of meat, on a big piece of bread and a lot of side. Sure, theres nothing wrong with eating liver, some people will eat just a plate full of it, but its like fermented fish for most. A little bit of meat, a lot of a side with it. You'd probably enjoy it more that way.

  3. That oatmeal probably has Molasses drizzled in it, which was probably the most common way to it was eaten in the later half of the 1800s.

  4. The only thing I would have added to the stew would be a can of crushed tomatoes, or tomato paste. The standard beef stew isn't quite what appears to be in RDR2, since the in-game version has a distinctly red/orange base liquid.

  5. i kinda wish that the Bastille Saloon and maybe the Parlour House had more French food, like pastries and maybe bœuf bourguignon or bouillabaisse

also it’s a crime that Keene’s doesn’t actually serve that squirrel stew

  6. Now you need to try the foods of other cities and towns in the game. Not sure how anyone finds pickled eggs tasty. I love pickle flavored foods like kettle cooked chips, but not eggs.

  7. liver and onions etc is an acquired taste, especially the full flavor without milk, I myself enjoy it but i also grew up eating stuff like that.

  8. Fun fact about the pickled eggs. They wernt served because they were popular or well-regarded. It was actually purely just a business tactic that caught steam in New Orleans. Bars and saloons started serving pickled goods of all sorts advertising it as a free meal too all. Not only did the prospect of a free meal bring in tons of customers. But it also heavily boosted liquor sales because all the salt and vinegar made people extremely thirsty, that's also why the almonds are so radiant, there is probably more salt in that bowl than nuts.

  9. I was kinda expecting you to use a period recipe for these, like we know what time the game's set in, there are recipe books from back then that the rockstar devs would've read themselves to base these foods on that you could use yourself with the added fun of interpreting a ~150 year old recipe

  10. This is the worst time for me to discover you drop this video.

I am stoned. I am hungry.
I've been wanting to play Red Dead.

I want to wind up making something aren't I?

    Love you videos

  11. Incredible video, great first attempt at a new format (while maintaining the appeal of previous videos!)
