Have you ever finished decorating a room, but something still feels a little… off? Not quite Pinterest-worthy? That’s exactly the case with my friend Andrea’s dining room. We wanted to keep the space minimal and elevated while making it truly functional for a growing family. So today, I’m transforming this dining room with thoughtful decor swaps, a DIY bench cushion, and an art hack that took me embarrassingly long to discover. Watch this modern dining room makeover come together from start to finish, and let me know your thoughts in the comments!

The space fits the person, I don't know how to put it but her reaction makes me feel like it's exactly done for her. The art piece was bold but it paid off
I wonder if there’s some film or paint you can put on glass to make it have less glare as an alternative
I have a similar light fixture I got from ikea, it just has brass accents too, I adooooore it
I love the chairs ❤ …and the rest as well😂
I knew my baby waking me up at 5 am (Australia) was ACTUALLY her doing me a favour… now I get to see a freshly dropped SG episode 😅🥳 thanks baby girl 💘
You always do such a great job.I just hate bunches in the kitchen. Am I the only one?
I think the olive green frame competes with the painting a bit. My eye goes to the frame first. I would have loved to see a dark walnut frame with a dark inner liner instead. The dark liner would blend into the background of the painting, and the walnut would bring out the warm tones in the fruit and flowers without taking attention away from them.
I have never said this on a Sorry Girls video, but I think you missed the mark on this one. The table was the worst thing in the dining room, and you kept it??? 👎👎👎
The art looks phenomenal!!! Love it
those clear chairs are sooooo much more comfortable than those stiff chairs. sure they look nice but who the hell wants to sit upright all the time.
Love the less intense of a makeover, it is wonderful!!!!
now that is beautiful work, love it!!!
💚
It looks so much better and way more welcoming! Everyone is hating on the table but they can always change that out later! Just because it's a makeover doesn't mean EVERYTHING has to be swapped out completely.
❤️🌹
Absolutely love what you did to the art and I’m now looking around my home to find a frame I can subject to the same treatment 😂😂😂
If you have a baby or spend much time with a baby, you might not be so enamored of the color you used for the frame/matte. The nook looks fantastic now. Rather than Pinterest-worthy, it's family worthy. So much better!
love the fabric choices and the chairs. How do you find such beautiful chairs wauw. good job
Kelsey we love you but not everything has to be green😭 warm wood would’ve looked so good on that frame or an ornate gold. The bench fabric was a lil dated lookin while the chairs were so rich! I wish it was even a rich dark green fabric at least. 🙈
The cornice box makes a huge difference! So ironic that it seems that it was always there! The pendant is a great choice, and so is the cushion fabric and — best of ALL — the art reframing! Not 100% on the chairs, as you get a heavy dose of quirkiness with two chairs giving you their quirky backs. But I'd much rather quirky than dull (or clear).
Love every choice. The only thing I maybe have added is a rug. I usually use outdoor rugs for dining areas because they are so much easy to clean.
You managed to insert a lot of vibrancy and personality into what was a kind of bland and boring space. Love it!
I need you to know I am loving loving these room makeovers and mini makeovers so much!! I saw some commenters over on Instagram complaining about a dip in sustainability/that not EVERY single thing is thrifted or handmade but literally come onnnn. I do not care whatsoever that some items are purchased new and I think that is so much more realistic for the vast majority of people trying to decorate their spaces. You’re still very much thrifting and diy-ing the majority of stuff which we looove! Decorating your space is gonna be inherently consumerist pretty much no matter what so like you just can’t win with some people. Anyway. I love this format so much. Scrumptious. Xoxo
I like the warmth you added! I really want someone to wash that window though. 😉
Not my favorite makeover but I think its only because im personally not a fan of the minimalist look
The picture frame was actually an opportunity to go more bold. Pattern, stripes, more color.
As far as I know the tape is used at the back not on the front 😊
We really don't want to say Pinterest worthy anymore have you been on recently it's all ai and ads
The white cornice? What a wasted opportunity
Just stunning. ❤
Didn’t ask for a zipper??? In an eating area??
Kelsey, you did such a great job of keeping it neutral but so warm and inviting at the same time. The art work looks SO much better with the way you upgraded it.
omg keeeeelsey!!!! this looks so incredible! honestly i feel like you didn’t change THAT much but the difference is so massive. also taping a paper towel to the wall to catch the wall powder stuff when you hung the shelves?! so pro. i also fricken loooooooooove how you addressed the painting. so bold and i would have never thought to do the mat and the frame a color like that, it looks sooo lux!
A lot of Kelsey singing in the episode. Reminds me of Rochelle! 😅 More please! Lol
I used to work for Nordstrom in the Visual Merchandising department back in the day when it was window design and installation. I have reupholstered all kinds of chairs and pieces of wood. Here is what I would do. Staple the widest edge and use a chalk line to line up your edge to staple. Start in the middle go towards the end and pull your fabric tight, then staple. Staple half of one side, then the other always pulling your fabric tight. Start the opposite in the middle and do the same steps. It is the end that makes it messy. The thickness in the fold can be cut out. I like to do the ends like your gift wrapping.fold the sides in and staple just about and 1/8”-1/4” in from the edge.cut away that extra fabric , then fold in. Again go back to the middle and staple from the middle to the end pulling tightly as you staple. If you are doing something that is circular staple in the North, South, East, West spot of the circle pulling tightly across. Staple one quarter area but clip V off the fabrics so it lays flat. That is the fabric that will be lumpy. Do the opposite and pull the fabric. Always work opposite and pull the fabric tight.
❤❤❤
I’m not sure you added anything by using an off-white fabric for the top of the window – even the homeowner didn’t notice it- and, for me, the box is too high. I think it may have looked better in the seat cushion fabric or the frame colour and with a coloured blind that’s pulled part way down. I’m so glad you changed that light! The seat cover fabric is beautiful and they did a great job making the cushion for you. Great call on the changes to the picture.
Why so many ads and unskippable long ones too?
egads, those chairs! My daughter had those for years. Worst things to actually sit on.
I am sort of an artist and the tape should not be on the front of the painting (or print). It should be hinged on the back. I personally don't like that color of green on the frame, but if they like it that's what's important. Great makeover.
btw, I mean the clear acrylic ones
I admire the make over quite a lot. I do have to add that the labels on that breaker box were inspirational.
I love the seating upgrades, especially the window seat.
