willowdale’s best indian fine dining ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

Originally founded in Markham, Dum Pukht brought much-needed Indian fine dining to Willowdale when it opened in 2025 ๐ŸŽŠ

Our party of four arrived at 6:30 PM and went for the patio โ˜€๏ธ While there’s a massive, elegantly designed modern interior with soaring ceilings, we found it a bit stuffy inside

We tried:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Gobhi 65: $18
๐Ÿ‘‰ Crispy Honey Chilli Potato: $18
๐Ÿ‘‰ Chana Masala: $18
๐Ÿ‘‰ Lamb Rogan Josh: $24
๐Ÿ‘‰ Vegetable Dum-Pukht Biryani: $22
๐Ÿ‘‰ Butter Naan: $5

The resto is named after “dum pukht,” a traditional Indo-Persian method of slow-cooking food over a low flame in tightly sealed pots. This careful process traps the steam, locking in natural juices and allowing the ingredients to soak up the fresh herbs and spicesโ€”naturally, we had to try their biryani! While the price point is higher than typical spots in Brampton or Scarborough, the incredible flavour made it completely worthwhile! Our only minor critique is that we would have preferred the server to ask before cutting the bread for us

The Gobhi 65 was flavourful with a mild spice, and the Crispy Honey Chilli Potato nailed the sweet-and-heat balance ๐ŸŸ To maintain their crispness, both of these dishes should be enjoyed immediately after serving โณ๏ธ

The Chana Masala was rich and hearty, and the Lamb Rogan Josh had tender lamb chunks in an aromatic curry! Both were perfect for scooping up with our butter naan (we definitely needed those two orders)

โ€‹Although the staff was friendly, but the service was surprisingly slow given that the place wasn’t even full
