Is Carnival’s Main Dining Room Enough? Or Do You Need Specialty Dining?
Is Carnival Radiance’s Main Dining Room enough, or do you really need to spend extra money on specialty dining?
Tonight, we’re heading into the Main Dining Room for dinner to find out! We try a shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad, Chicken Cordon Bleu, roasted potatoes, baked potato, Carnival’s famous Warm Chocolate Melting Cake, and a fresh fruit plate. Along the way, we’ll share our honest thoughts on the food, service, portion sizes, and whether the complimentary dining experience is good enough for your cruise vacation.
Many cruisers swear by specialty dining, while others stick with what’s included. After this meal, we’ll answer the big question: Is specialty dining worth the extra cost, or is the Main Dining Room all you really need?
Have you sailed on Carnival Radiance? Let us know in the comments: Do you pay extra for specialty dining, or are you happy with the Main Dining Room?

After watching our Main Dining Room dinner on Carnival Radiance, do you think specialty dining is worth the extra money, or would you rather save that cash for another cruise?
On the few cruises we have done we have not done a sit-down dinner and the MDR or any specialty dining we just do the shack's chicken the pig and anchor guys burger the deli I'm finally the buffet. But sitting at the MDR looks pretty relaxing and the food looks good.
Weβve been on 40 cruises. Back in the day we always did the dining room. We only do the specialty restaurants now. So worth purchasing when thereβs a deal before cruising
I noticed on Carnival Cruise MDR, the Cord on Bleu had less ham, cheese, and portion size smaller! I order fruit plates maybe twice on my cruise and I do like salt on my watermelon and cantaloupe ( at home or Windjammer, I add ia little sprinkle, as well as on other fruits π) I donβt use salt or pepper in MDR π€π€π€ I had the Lava cake only once since I started cruising, didnβt like it and never tried it again! If it was more firm like a brownie I would enjoy with vanilla ice cream π Oh and I would want some butter on my baked potato too; maybe itβs just an American thing π€·πΎββοΈ Thanks for sharing πππ³οΈπ³οΈ
I've only been on the Radiance and each time on the first night I ALWAYS do speciality dining. Cucina del capitano is the best!!! Plus you get that bottle of wine free and it's 20-40% off the first night so $19 a person. Worth it.. I will say the main dining had the best Prime rib there ngl and I asked for well done lol.. Also the short rib is the bomb π£ I say SD is great for the first night, the rest MD is perfect.
