€8 vs €1,640 Dinner in Paris

In this video, I compare cheap vs expensive dining in Paris, starting with an €8 meal at the iconic Bouillon Chartier Grands Boulevards before heading to one of the most luxurious dining experiences in the city: Le Cinq inside the Four Seasons Hotel George V.
From historic French comfort food to Michelin-starred fine dining, I compare the meals on taste, value, service, and overall experience to see how much difference the price really makes.
At Le Cinq, the menu features some eye-watering prices, including an asparagus dish for €130. helping push the total bill to €1,640.
Is the luxury experience worth over 200 times the price, or does the budget option hold its own? Let’s find out.

Restaurants visited:
Bouillon Chartier Grands Boulevards – 7 Rue du Faubourg Montmartre, 75009 Paris
Le Cinq – 31 Av. George V, 75008 Paris

  1. That fancy expensive French restaurant was insane! All of those courses…..that would be the ultimate experience!!!

  2. Whoa Harrison, what a delicious ride you've taken us on here, especially at Le Cinq! Wow. I'm definitely up for the flaxseed bread and butter, the lobster, the lamb and ALL of the desserts. Your thoughts on the asparagus made me laugh. I'm a retired food writer and cook. I remember a meal I had a long time ago in a posh hotel in Australia's capital city. Alongside some salmon there was the top 1/4 tip of an asparagus spear that had been sliced with a scalpel and fanned out on the plate. Not much to see there, and not much taste either. Love your work, Harrison. Always look forward to your shows. ☺

  3. This has to be my favourite review you've ever done. Both places were superb, the total contrast makes this so eminently watchable. I'd certainly love to go to both. Seeing your reactions to the food at Le Cinq was priceless. And getting both a tour of the kitchen and the wine cellar, what a wonderful experience. Now to win the lottery

  4. „Meat is only 40 Euros more“. If you have to say „only“ to a price difference that is 2 full meals in a different restaurant then you know its ridiculous overpriced.

  5. Love bro. Your reaction to the first desert was class. You deserve all the success my friend. Keep it up. Cool to see you in other countries/places.

  6. I think you summed it up well when you said it is an experience.
One dish cannot be worth €130, but you are paying for the experience as well as the food.
Am I likely to be able to go there, no, but it was good to see the review.
One of the good things aboyt this channel and few others is the the chance to see places we are less likely to visit ourselves.

What stood out as well though was that cheaper place was still good when you looked at the food in context of the price.
Goes to show a good meal does not have to be expensive.

  7. Sausages from Montbéliard or Morteau, and Diots from Jura are insanely flavourful and tasty

  8. It would be great if you could focus more on the food and explain the different flavors and what made each dish special. €640 each doesn't seem that expensive for a memorable dining experience in Paris. This hotel is on my bucket list for at least a couple of nights for a special occasion. Can’t wait to stay there Thanks for sharing😊

  13. @Harrison Webb, do you not think East London is part of London you never seem to go there for food places which they have a good selection as you say it’s a trek even though I could say going to central from East is that

  14. I just added this to my Bucket List when, heaven forbid my parent's depart and I could actually afford it. Looks like THE food experience in the whole world ever ! 👌👌👌

  15. A friend of mine & I just got back from 2 weeks in France; 1 week of which was spent in Paris. We ate at the same Bouillon Chartiler you were at and we even had the exact same table as you! Several of the restaurants we went to in Paris didn't serve butter with the bread (or even have it available). My guess is that the woman who had the recipe died! I had the Boeuf Bourgignon (pasta). Not a fan, really. I prefer the type that's more like a stew than a pasta dsh. Cheers!

  16. ❤ what an experience that second restaurant must have been! 😮😮 Absolutely amazing food! The way you described the dishes was for me the best 😀

  17. It’s interesting to see the last restaurant. I grad you like some of the courses, the atmosphere and the experience, however, I am not sure I would pay that much, if I didn’t like some dishes from the course….

  18. Phenomenal! I've just realised why we love to come back to the cheeky-chappy so much…Not only do you have bags of good looks and tons of charisma, but you can eat with the Plebs and dine with the Kings…you enjoy it all and tell it like it is…please don't ever change 🙏

  19. Me watching this just after a birthday treat meal, at Hungry Horse Furzton Lake, Milton Keynes lol 😂😍
