Grew up in Chicago, pizza probably 75 times a year. I would say 73 thin crust sausage and mushroom and 2 deep dish ( usually when non Chicagoans were visiting ).

I can understand why they go crazy for waffles and pancakes. On their waffles, they never put butter on them. Also their syrup is NOT maple syrup. Basically they put kero syrup on a dry waffle or flat pancake. Plus they don't put their eggs or bacon, let alone chicken. They cannot understand sweet and savory.

I'm from Chicago and the hot dogs are dressed different depending on what spot you go to. And the deep dish pizza are tourists spots we rarely eat there we get down with tavern thin crust Italian Fiesta style pizza. The best hood food is on the south side of the city. Look up content from Chicago best eats.
Don't be dissin' on New England food my brother. I left at 18 for New Mexico in 1968 and I still think the food there has no comparison to the rest of the country. Spanish, Mexican and Indian influences all rolled into one. Simply amazing food out there!

Grew up in Chicago lived there for 18 years. Deep dish is for celebrations, birthdays, graduations. If you wanna eat like the locals, we prefer to get tavern style pizza when it’s not a celebration.
