The UK’s Oldest Indian Restaurant Desperately Needs Your Help!!
Tonight we’re eating at the United Kingdom’s oldest Indian restaurant – a restaurant with immense history, so many stories, and that still serves some of the best Indian food in London. But as we’re going to find out, they need our help.
Huge thank you to my friends Kevin and Sonya (https://www.instagram.com/finediningexp/) for arranging this incredible dinner.
Thank you also to Ranjit Mathrani, Co-Owner Veeraswamy, for taking the time to talk with us and share the incredible story of Veeraswamy.
Sign the petition to save Veeraswamy: https://www.change.org/p/help-save-veeraswamy-to-exist-in-its-100-year-old-location
Here are all the dishes we tried:
Anglo-Indian Mulligatawny Soup

Come on Charlie, your Crown Estate wants to shut down this historic restaurant, preservation of culture is right up your street so get to it, sure a word in the right ear and the license is renewed asap.
Surely they can find another reasonable location.
Most impressive thing about this video = walking down Regent Street with a camera held out. You, my sir, deserve RESPECT.
Damn! you are bringing😁😁😁😁 out BANGERS, one after another!!!
To put context to what the Landlords are doing, Veeraswamy's entrance is obviously on the ground floor, but it consists of a desk, a narrow corridor to a lift (an elevator for our American audience). That's it! Nothing else, and yet the Landlord, who are the Crown Estate, have decided that they need this 120 sq feet for the redesign of the ground floor offices, and for access to the floors above, and as such Veeraswamy who have been at this exact same address for 100 years, will now have to clear out. This is nothing to do with the space the restaurant occupies on the first floor, this is all to do with a door, a corridor, and an elevator… shame on the Crown Estate! 100 years of Britain's history down the toilet for 11sq meters…disgusting!
That food looked amazing, what a pity about the restaurant having to find other premises after being there for 100 years.
Why are his eyes always bloodshot?
I love love love Indian food❤ mmmmm
The owner Mr Ranjit Mathrani speaks English with an upper class polished colonial accent 😁😎
What an iconic and centrally located establishment !
Think beginning to drop to all that the food in the UK is incredible. Modern British cuisine is highly cosmopolitan. Great video
Do you have allergies Mark, your eyes were extremely red today. Awesome video
Happy Father’s Day Mark. I’ve been watching you for many years since you and you were first married. I love your channel.❤
Seems like you are targetting Indians to grow subscription. After 8 successive videos from India, now this.
WHILE YOU ARE IN LONDON PLEASE TRY SHARWAMA HUT IN THE ELEPHANT AND CASTLE ! THE OWNER DOES SO MUCH FOR THE LOCAL COMMUNITY ! 🙂
I don't like tamarind, cardamom or star anise. They taste like soap, bile and medicine. My brother is a chef and has made endless dishes with more spices and seasonings than I can name. Those three are inedible to me in any variation.
Wat utter BS!! yr lease just ended… if landlord doesn't wish then shift ur business elsewhr…. no right to encroach property in d name of history. if the food is gud, people will follow. these people shud be slapped wid another lawsuit trying to cause public outrage
Mark, you are so charming and handsome, your eyes in this look a bit red. Take care, please.
Hi how are you ?I fallow you always.
My Mum worked for City of Westminster cleaning company back in the late 70's and early 80's she cleaned front of house in that restaurant for years. She never ate there she was Anglo Indian her favorite Indian restaurant was the Balti house on the Walworth road, as they cooked food the Asian way for Asian taste buds.
This is a resturant that serves indian food not a indian resturant
Yes great restaurant have eaten there. I signed the petition to hopefully stop it from being closed.🙏🇬🇧
Eat the food in your mouth first Mark lol then talk.. lol
Slow gin what😮
Wow the owner is the poshed sounding Indian I've ever heard!
Mark that brought back so many memories. I worked in Veerasamy 20years back as my first job in London. Great place Superb food
I think British people are genuinely losing their capital city. London has been heavily infiltrated by demographic shifts, and the traditional British population that would eat at that restaurant is actively moving out to the countryside because they feel overwhelmed by immigration and the cultural dominance of non-British groups. Even something as classic as the local British-Indian food culture is changing because the newer demographics don't eat it or just cook at home.🤔
Looking either tired or you've had a few too many cocktails Mark.:-)
Don’t know anyone with such an intense gushing facial expression as Mark.
This food might be delicious but you can never tell with mark as he has no objectivity in his reviews.
im happy where are you now but you forgot where you stated you food vlog from jafffna why cant you go back please its all your wish
