Food Theory: Why In-N-Out WON’T Survive

In-n-Out is one of the most hotly debated chains in the food world. Many Californians will defend it to the death and just as many will claim itβs nothing but mid at best. How has this restaurant with JUST 400 locations nationwide managed to create such aβ¦cult-like following?

I tried In and Out once, and it wasn't bad, but it really tasted just like the burgers I made at home as a teenager with frozen patties and lawry salt.
15:11 I'd be happy the company is making moves to stay successful, rather than dying on the hill the fans think it should be on. This way the fans can still get their burgers and fries for a long, long time instead of the whole company collapsing over tradition and destroying tens of thousands of jobs and possibly lives in the process
Well can you blame her? As an ex Californian I feel qualified to say California kinda sucks. Everybody wants out of there.
this is a really interesting video bc ive obvserved this same phenomenon in the local upstate ny ice creamshop/convenience store Stewarts Shops
The more I hear this the more I realize that you need to try p. Terryβs. Its just a better in and out either way actual good fries
People mass fleeing California because it hard to live there. "Boy I wish there were In-n-outs around here." In-N-out starts fleeing California thus spreading out more store locations because its hard to live and do business there. "HAY! Your doing scummy business practices!" Yeap, still true that you can take the Californian out of California, but you can't take the California out of a Californian.
as an Ex-Californian, to me In-n-out is still fairly mid. the issues i always have is with the salt and seasoning levels, but it's very fresh and clean tasting. It is a feel good burger but not the most flavorful.
This entire video is a nothing burger.
I've said it once and i'll say it a billion times, if you have to rely on "animal style" for it be good, the base product is not good. I said what i said! I will not be arguing π€·πΎββπ
A few weeks ago, I was at my local In-N-Out, and the guy waiting for his food next to me was so excited to get his first taste of an In-N-Out burger. I don't think I've ever seen someone that hyped for fast food before, and I say that with all positivity. Shout out to that dude – if you're reading this, I hope you enjoyed your burger
In n out hands down is the best fast food chain burger. Thats coming from someone who was born and raised in Texas.
Wonder when they will make in n out sausage
In-N-Out is just Coors in 1977. Just substitute In-N-Out for every reference to Coors in Smoky and the Bandit.
it's okay, I like it, but it's not my favorite
This video makes me want to eat an In-N-Out Double Double, but if Santi from Miami canβt get one without embarking on a big trip, how well do you think that would go for me, who lives in Germany?
Fix the fries, and an option to add bacon, and it would be the best thing ever.
When I was growing up in West Michigan, Hot 'n Now was the place to go for cheap fast food. Now they have changed the menu to better ingredients and higher prices. They missed the point of the lore, "Cheap Fast Food"! Also, Wendy's patties are much thicker than In-N-Out's.
You don't like El Toro Loco?
Theyβre expanding to New Mexico π
Quick correction from an In-N-Out employee: The Flying Dutchman does not come wrapped in whole grilled onions. You have to order it that way specifically. A Flying Dutchman is simply just 2 meat patties with cheese, nothing else
the burgers are good. the fries are atrocious, even animal style. worst fries EVER.
Had In-N-Out for the first time this year and honestly, itβs nothing special. Five Guys is waaaaaaay better.
It's good for its cost but shake shack tastes better. Life long Californian here.
7:23 not my experience with Wendyβs it was frozen and threw it away
15:22 fin
Don't forget about dominos
TL;DR the CEO moved to a different state and that apparently could somehow ruin the businessβ¦β¦β¦
I was counting like 40 cuts / zooms / added and removed flash arts for every 60 seconds of video. Are we aiming for less than 2 second attention spans now?
I know this is my first video since old matpat days but wooooaahhhh please calm it down, wow!
Do one thing the best you can, In and Out, Raising Canes. Burgers, Chicken, the best way you can
I would like to jump in here and say In N Out is also great for other reasons: they run three different grant giving nonprofit foundations fighting against homelessness, child abuse/domestic violence, substance abuse, and human trafficking. And so many other community programs. So going there also helps a bunch of different give back efforts that they donβt brag about.
They also a Christian company π
in n out=over hype.
A cult like following makes sense. Quality nowadays is hard to get, let alone at more reasonable prices.
MATPAT???
cheese or else
I feel I should point out just how many Californians have moved to Tennessee as of late. California has been Tennessee's biggest transplant feeder for nearly a decade now and it feels like half the people I meet who aren't local are from California. Tennessee actually makes a ton of sense because you already have tens of thousands of existing fans coming to the state every year who are going to pressure all their new local friends into trying it. The weird choice is not making a new meat facility imo.
Not from the USA but I'd like to visit one day and I wanna try all these fast food there I don't get to try
