Yep its true I had pizza in Italy recently and it sucked, and I wen to supposedly one of the best spots. It couldn't even come close to a top 50 in NYC.
Dave Portnoy really convinced half the planet the “flop” on a pizza is a bad thing. It’s absolutely not. I had pizza in Naples from a different spot and it was an absolute flavour explosion and tastier than every New York pizza. It’s all about preference. If you like crispy pizzas, cool. But that doesn’t mean a floppy one is bad
