The Bay Area and the rest of California has objectively better-quality food available year-round. It also has a massive tech industry full of people happy to blow a lot of money constantly.
It's important to note that Michelin only investigates a few cities in the US. So this is kind of arbitrary as a means of determining which area has better food (even if I think it's probably California and I'm not from either place so I have no dog in this race.)
