Just a reminder that there is now a channel of Tasting History marathon videos. It’s made through YouTube as a way to bring old videos back to life and to let people fall asleep to my droning voice. https://youtube.com/@tastinghistorywithmaxtopvideos?si=PMuOauonQlZLl-nb
Everyone here SHOULD read The Odyssey!!! Start with the Emily Wilson translation if the older ones are intimidating!
Congratulations on all of your success. Love what you do. Brother
2:42 I’m pretty sure that it would Hermes not Mercury because Mercury is the Roman version
Yet another poisoned dish from history (mythology?) recreated without the poison. Ugh. The historical inaccuracy on this channel is appalling.
OOOOH! “TASTING FICTION”! It makes room for so many more recipes!
according to hollywood, odysseus ate avocado toast with truffle flakes
The food at the last night of Helen of Troy
I haven't read the story, but I would assume the witch would use a fresh cheese. Maybe even something closer to Labneh. Think, really thick Greek yoghurt.
1:38 I always though the 2 names were the same 🤯
❤👍
Super interesting – thanks Max!
Hard tack clacks without the hard cut to the clacks was weirdly jarring. Great video though…
Okay, I'm going to say it… What is going on with the noses at 10:16.
Cool name for a cat 😂
It was Holy Moly. “She can turn you to an animal that’ll end up on her plate. She can all but make you fall in love like you’re on your hundredth date”
My husband and I went to Greece in 2022 and we still talk about it all the time. I can't wait to go back. In fact, I doubt I would come home! We also visited the Mycenae ruins while there. So amazing to see a bronze age citadel.
"I feel like Odysseus too sometimes"
You do wonderful work… Keep having fun!
Food looks good but the film SUCKS
Tiny Cyclops dihhh was not on my bingo card today, but here we are!
honestly think the wine wasn't cooked long enough. a bit longer on low heat probably would've incorporated the cheese and the flour better and it would've been smoother in the end.
Completely off topic but I really really want to see max as Prince Charming!!!! I’m watching the pineapple upside down Betty Crocker video.
Just not the same joy in Barley Hard Tack 🙁
What? No lotuses?
I would suggest buying some horse meat for your next Tasting Mythology episode. That way you can eat Trojan Horse.
I'll leave now to save what little dignity I have left.
Pretty sure the Trojans ate humble pie after the horse
