Trying Filipino food as leftovers for the 1st time in my life!

After trying authentic Filipino food at MMK Best Friends in Provo, Utah, I had one question: Is Filipino food even better the next day? In this follow-up food vlog, I taste test our leftover Filipino dishes, to see which ones hold up after a night in the fridge. If you enjoy Filipino food, restaurant reviews, leftover food tests, taste tests, and discovering new cuisines, I think you’ll enjoy this quick follow-up. Be sure to watch the full video here:

  1. I think Filipino is even better left over! I am so excited to share my cooking journey with you as I learn all about Filipino cuisine and culture. Please subscribe and follow along as I keep eating and cooking more filipino food!

  2. Kuya austin, be careful with reheating dishes with coconut milk coz they get spoiled easily. We normally put them in the fridge in case we want to serve them the next day. Adobo, however, can be eaten for a week and it even taste better as days gone by.

  3. Superb video!..rewatched several times…could you teach your brothers how to make videos like this? 😊

  4. Austin, heres a tip, you can always add a fried egg on top of the rice when eating Filipino leftovers! Most are paired with egg but not all! Enjoy!!! ❤

  5. Adobo taste better the following day coz the adobo marinade had penetrated on the meat. So happy to watch you and your daughter enjoying the Filipino dish.

  6. @austincooksaveragefood thnks kuya Austin for appreciating our Filipino food we love u and we love all Harris siblings..u guys rock ..u are always welcome here in the philippines..looking forward to see u all guys here..Cant wait to see you all.

  7. adobo is the best to reheat, we call it "Pangat" which means pangatlong init. In English translation it's third time to reheat 😁

  8. Prime reason why it tastes better the next day is because foods like Adobo and Bistek are essentially ways to pickle or preserve foods over a period of time. It means you are eating it in the intended way.

PS: if the pork belly is Lechon, there is a dish made from that called Lechon Paksiw. Basically leftover Lechon recooked into a sweet Adobo type stew. I recommend looking it up when you get to the Philippines.

  9. i wonder what it would be like to have a jake and austin duo in a kuya kurt vlog. jake's banters alone in kuya kurt's vlogs already crack me up

  10. Hi Austin, I just arrived Manila 2 days ago and it’s been 8 long years since my last visit. Still nothing beats Filipino food, and the Jollibee our very own fast food reminds me so much of my childhood. Well anyway maybe tried to search if there’s a Jollibee there and I’m sure you will loved it too.

  11. Left over Filipino food taste better overnight because the 'spices' are allowed to 'marry' or soak in with the meat for more flavor! Godspeed!

  12. Dwpwnds on the food.. adobo, paksiw they taste betternovernight but not lechon.. with leftover lechon you make it into lechon paksiw

  13. kuya kurt is extremely charismatic and unintentionally funny, but kuya austin, i think, is the most handsome among the brothers 🫶🏼💪🏻 haha

  14. Yes Filipino food good for re heat re-warm in a pan or mix with vegetables or recycle with different dish… becoz of vinegar content n sugar that acts as preserves…! We cook pork or chicken adobo in bulk… keep in half in freezer for 2-3 weeks… re heat in full capacity, good as new flavors penetrate deep… thank you Mia for liking them n regards to the rest of family Austin…!😊🇵🇭🇺🇸

  15. That's how fancy and versatile adobo is. You can eat it soon as you cook it, you can also let it simmer dry , anc eat it, or let it chill and eat it, you san also add sugar and star anaise and make it asado, or put in mang tomas sauce and make it lechon paksiw hahahaha

  16. Mia might just own(if she wannts…) MMK someday. It will be called Mama Mia’s Kitchen!! Filipino-American-Italian FUSION❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

  17. Hi Austin ! Bicol express is the spicy pork in coconut milk , while Bistek Tagalog ( beef steak ) is beef with calamansi juice , thats why its a little citrusy with sour taste .
