Fast food restaurants are eating up the high cost of beef

With ground beef prices topping $7 a pound for the first time, major fast-food chains are absorbing the cost instead of raising prices. More than half of Americans cite value menus as their top reason for choosing a restaurant. NBC News’ Allie Canal reports.

  1. When I worked at McDonald's in 2006, we were constantly getting orders for 20 to 30 doubles cheese or mcchickens, nobody doin that anymore!

  2. Meanwhile the high cost of beef is due to the lack of competition in the beef (and other meats) processing industries, caused by corporations consolidating over the last decade

  3. News is as usual 5 years late to the party. Fast food can all go belly up at this point, let the truly good mom and pop shops resurge.

  4. Farmers get tax credits for crops not sold. I live next to 50 farms so i know it's not shipping costs making them expensive it's just greedy people.

  5. This is all BS. The whole free market system is broken and only favors the rich while punishes everyone else and nothing will get better until people start realizing that.

  6. Once you purchase the overpriced fries, nevermind the carbonated colored corn syrup water they've made a huge profit.

  7. No they are not, they already raised prices years ago and even with the more expensive beef it should still be cheaper.

  8. Just a heads up. Target discounts their ground beef and chicken that has a sell by date of the next day 50% off every morning. Go when the store opens because it sells fast. I get all my ground beef (93/7) at an average of $4 a pound.

  9. So….stop eating the beef…..not hard…. smh…Americans are so simple minded…. ask yourself why do I need to eat beef…

  10. and yet they wanted minimum wage to go higher and higher. ofc its addicting and tasty to eat out, but once you learn how to make your own fav burger, youll save so much money and know whos touching your food, you. lol
