State Fair Lemon Shake-Up’s!! (homemade lemonade recipe)

Learn how to make your own lemonade shake-up just like you get at the county or state fair! This is hands down, the BEST lemonade there is! No reason to wait around for the fair to enjoy these as they are super simple to make and cost less than 50 cents! The best part? No cooking and cooling of a simple syrup!

What you’ll need:
1/2 fresh lemon (wash before using)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup crushed ice (about 6 regular sized ice cubes)
1 cup cold water

Cut the half lemon into 4 pieces. Put into a 16oz glass that you can fit a lid to along with the sugar. With the end of a wooden spoon, mash the lemon pieces with the sugar to extract the juices and oils from the lemon. Add in the crushed ice and cold water. Put lid on and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds or until the sugar is dissolved. Remove lid and enjoy!!

You can also make this by the half gallon by using 2 whole lemons, 1 cup sugar, 4 cups crushed ice and 4 cups cold water. Do the same thing as above but remove the lemon pieces if you’re not going to serve right away as it will turn the lemonade bitter.
