FILM TO TABLE SERIES EP11: The Gray Stuff from Beauty and the Beast 🥀

I was so excited when I found out that Disney had an official recipe for the gray stuff! I wanted to customize it a little more by making my own mascarpone whipped cream and decided to add more Oreos instead of the few tablespoons of chocolate pudding mix like their recipe calls for and it turned out so delicious!

Re-imagined Gray Stuff ✨

Ingredients:
* 1½ cups cold whole milk
* 1 (3.4 oz) package instant vanilla pudding mix
* 17 oreos
* 1¼ cups cold heavy whipping cream
* ¾ cup powdered sugar
* Splash vanilla extract
* 8 oz mascarpone cheese, softened but still cold
* Edible sugar pearls (optional garnish)

Method:
1. In a large bowl, whisk together the cold milk and vanilla pudding mix for 2 minutes until smooth and slightly thickened.
Cover and chill in the fridge for 1-2 hours until set.
2. Remove filling from 17 Oreos and transfer to a food processor, pulse the cookies until finely crushed
3. Fold the crushed cookies into the chilled vanilla pudding until fully incorporated.
4. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Add mascarpone and continue whipping just until stiff peaks form – don’t overmix.
5. Add pudding to the mascarpone whipped cream and gently fold until smooth and evenly combined.
6. Chill mixture for another hour to firm up. Spoon into a piping bag with a star tip and pipe onto scalloped sugar cookies.
7. Top with edible sugar pearls for garnish

  1. It was probably pâté made with liver and mushrooms, since beauty and the beast is meant to be French. So that dessert type recipe is merely an Americanization of what it could have been, pâté is actually extremely delicious and exquisite. Sometimes they sell it in international markets, perhaps one day you could try it

  2. We eat the grya stuff in italy, especially in regions like Umbria. It's indeed made with rabbit or chicken livers and anchovies. It's delicious
