  1. I love the air fryer because unlike the oven, I don’t have to wait for it to warm up. I have two full ovens, a small counter top oven and an air fryer and I use my air fryer just about every day!

  2. The only reason I got an air fryer is because my apartment would get so hot in the summer than I couldn't cook things like roast potatoes without making my home unbearably hot.

  3. The biggest problem with air fryers is that they are not a fryer. As chef says they are a compact bench top convection oven.

    So why the name "fryer"?

    Think back about fifteen years ago and there was a rash of benchtop convection ovens that consisted of a big glass bowl with a sort of giant hairdryer thing mounted on top. They were in all the stores, I even bought one from Aldi.

    They were dangerous when hot and suffered from the basic flaw that the top of the food could get burned to a crisp while the bottom of the food was still raw. There are still a few of the better ones around, but "air fryers" took over as they do a far better job. Mine, along with most of the others, ended up at the dump.

    The name air fryer was adopted to differentiate this new style of oven from the nasty glass bowl predecessors. As well as being a catchy name.

    But they are not real fryers.
