Tabelog’s super convenient! I’d just like to add that a score over 3.0 on Tabelog means the restaurant is above average. Over 4 would be like Michelin level. Do not be that person who turns down a Tabelog 3.8 restaurant because they think it’s beneath them.

2.5 on tabelog is fine. Hell, 1.5 is still on par with a 3.5 on google reviews
I like the app for reviews, but very few of their restaurants allow bookings for 1 person. Even less than is average in Japan.
You said these are great restaurants, but these have ratings under 4 starts but above 3 🤔 are they just that critical?
Don't just chase review scores. Try something different and you might be surprised 🙀

The food in Japan is usually exceptional in quality and taste. The care, effort and pride each maker devotes to their products is unmatched.
