The recipes every home cook should know. Ep 1: Honey Garlic Chicken.
Ingredients:
– 3 tbsp honey
– 2 tbsp soy sauce
– 1 tbsp mirin
– 4 cloves of garlic
– 1/2 tsp of pepper flakes (I used pepitos)
– splash of water (to prevent burning)
– 2 chicken thighs cut into 1 in chunks
– salt, pepper
– 2-3 tbsp of corn starch
– Oil for frying and a tbsp for the chicken
Mix, honey, soy sauce, mirin, garlic, pepper flakes, water and mix until combined set aside. Cut up chicken thighs and then add to a bowl. add salt, pepper, and oil. Cover in corn starch and mix until fully coated. To a pan cover with .5 in of oil and then add the chicken. Fry until golden and internal of 165. Drain all onto a wire rack. To the same pan, add in butter, pour in your sauce, and scrape up any fond. Combine the chicken into the sauce and serve.

I say DO taste the sauce, but don't alter it. If your end result tastes how you like it, you don't change a thing, but if the end result is too sweet or needs more garlic, remember that for next time and make sure the next sauce is less sweet or garlicy-er

My version is:
Chicken: marinate with salt, pepper and msg.
Sauce: add bulgogi sauce/teriyaki sauce, sauteed garlic with butter, add water to adjust
Combine the sauce and the chicken and I eat it with konjac rice. 10-15 minute meal š
