The quirkiest little restaurant in all of Brooklyn is a no frills old place run for fifty years by Hasidic Mr. Klein. He found some posters in the street with men and women written on them and hung it inside, as well as a request that visitors not take out their smartphones: I found him eating in the women’s section in the spot where his late wife used to eat. He had a chuckle for everything, including his explanation for the dear that sticks out of the wall “it ran into the wall and got there this way.” He is known for his great many small acts of kindness, and his gentle heart is evident by his employees’ disposition. His house made falafel balls are legendary, and the Hungarian rukut crumply is must try. Klein’s Restaurant on Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg.
