I did that and the employees were able to give it to me for $8 at my location at least, idk about others. In canon the gum gum fruit is suppose to taste bad. Many instances show that its bitter to ppl. Unless the anime/manga said otherwise. I recall the soap soap and giraffe fruit was bitter according to the users. Luffy just isnt picky whatsoever
