We Tried Ireland’s BEST Afternoon Tea at The Shelbourne… Worth It?
Today we’re in Dublin trying what many people claim is the best afternoon tea in Ireland — at the iconic The Shelbourne Hotel Dublin 🇮🇪
Overlooking St Stephen’s Green, The Shelbourne is one of the most famous and luxurious hotels in Ireland, with nearly 200 years of history. So naturally… expectations were high.
We went all in on the full afternoon tea experience — starting with a selection of freshly made finger sandwiches, followed by warm scones with cream and jam (plus a surprise we weren’t expecting 👀), and finishing with an impressive range of beautifully presented cakes and pastries.
Everything looked incredible… but the big question is:
👉 is it actually worth the price?
In this video, we break down the food, the portion sizes, the service, and the overall experience to give you our honest verdict on whether this really is Ireland’s best afternoon tea — or just another expensive luxury experience.
If you enjoy food reviews, travel content, and “is it worth it?” experiences, make sure to subscribe — we’ve got plenty more coming from Dublin and London.

Gents….
Try the Westbury Hotel next time you’re in Dublin.
Definitely the best afternoon tea in Dublin
India produces green tea, in the Himalayan regions. I bought some from Amazon. It would be great if it were available in one of your afternoon teas. I think it needs to be promoted more!
Feta's Greek, not Italian.
Lovely afternoon tea in the Shelbourne! It's a journalists haunt!
How much did you tip?
I don't know about a herbal tea; I prefer a nice tea .
What a shitshow!
Do enjoy a sultana scone, everything looked delightful.
Good on Naz for blowing out the candle! The cakes looked so delicious!
They're not proper Irish scones
€79 each ? 😮
I wonder if Ryan Tubridy still dares show his face there at the Shelbourne? I used to see him going into its front lobby mostly before he resigned from the RTE's secret payments scandal.
a filling on top of bread is not a sandwich.
It is a shame that customers are not allowed to select the foods they would enjoy consuming for an Afternoon Tea. Thank you for sharing your opinions. Have a great day!
