Cooking Dinner Every Night Is Broken (This Fixes It)

Cooking dinner every night is broken — so I’m fixing it with one base cook that turns into multiple real dinners all week.

In this video, I’m showing you how I cook once, avoid repeat meals, use what I already have, and build a flexible dinner system that saves time, reduces grocery waste, and makes weeknight meals feel doable again.

This is not traditional meal prep. This is a dinner domino system — one smart cooking session that gives you several different meals without starting from scratch every night.

  2. This is off topic, but I’m currently cooking dinner for my son with the scraps in my fridge. All I can think looking at this video is, who does your spring twist. They are so beautiful.

  3. Even when I have a plan, my meals planned and the various ingredients, if we get derailed one or 2 days in a week it messes up the ingredients I bought for my meal plan, and ingredients start to go bad. Like thawing meats, or produce etc.

  4. I always enjoy your videos even tho i couldn't do exactly. I have 2 kids, picky eaters i make real meals (with rice) to bring to school. My husband would over eat if i dont portion them out. so i have to do those packed lunches even tho we work from home. too much dishwashing! but i have been applying your way of not washing the pan for the next dish to get the flavors of the drippings. I could only do upto Wednesday. by Thursday it's a new set of plan again. Still figuring out how to make it last a week like you.

  5. Hi Cassandra- #1 ‘ no plan’ , is my pain point lately.🫤. Although, I’ve learned to keep medium size shrimp in the freezer to elevate any random meal of disjointed vegetables on a bed of “starch” *a low carb version of a bread/pasta/ potato or rice. You only need a 4-6 shrimp per serving and can also fortify with a scrambled egg.

I’ve just pulled together a very tasty dinner comprised of ‘triaged’ components from my refrigerator and freezer: an unlabeled steak of unknown age and origin 😳, a ziplock of sautéed onions & peppers , culling an overstock of carrots and half a bag of imported ‘artisan pasta’ that has been in the pantry since last fall. I’ve discovered that you can air fry a steak from frozen 😅. Another great method is to remove the air fryer grate and cook seasoned vegetables in the drippings from the steak 🤤. (Soak up all the flavor 😋).

Seeing this video, I know now I should have added a bit of broth & cream with the sautéed peppers and onions to make a sauce instead of just adding them to the cooked pasta with butter. 🙄.

I religiously recycle, so I always reuse my ziplocks ( unless greasy). When short on time, I will simply turn them inside out, rinse them and shove them into a collection bag in the refrigerator. Well, recently, I had a backlog of Ziploc in the refrigerator. 🥺. In a last ditch effort before resigning myself to them going to landfill, I put them in (3) net ‘delicate laundry’ bags, and washed them in a ‘warm’’, small load with one cup of white distilled vinegar. 😂. They came out squeaky clean🙌. This is my new weekly go to ‘ kitchen organization habit’ 😁

This week’s sequence looks so amazing!🤩 My proteins taste so much better now that I know , any meat should be patted dry prior to seasoning and cooking. 👍. Thanks again for a great video.👍. Much appreciated!❤❤❤

  6. Cassandra! I love your videos but genuine question… How do you always have so much garlic?! Do you buy it in bulk? 😊

  7. Everything looks delicious and great ideas! Quick question…what did you end up doing with the parsley and garlic used to make the infused oil?
