I'm from the other side of the planet but I'm delighted to say I've never even heard of the first four options. As I'm in New Zealand, my best local cheesesteak is a Korean bulgogi cheesesteak and it's phenomenal.

Babish have you never heard of Cooper Sharp? Iti is an aged american cheese that has the tang you are trying to acheive with your housemade cheese. It is part of all the new wave cheesesteaks coming out in the last decade or so in Philadelphia. Also please the white part of the wrapper goes toward the food not the outside.

I dont care what anyone says. Steak Umms are f-ing delicious. Level 3 is a 9.5/10. Just needs some peppers and onion to raise it to a perfect 10.

I don't know why but for me the only Philly cheese steak i except is with provolone cheese and it has to have the trinity which is onions, green bell pepper and mushrooms. Meat wise I except lamb beef or chicken thighs. And also you gotta hit everything with a seasoning mix but ill take it to my grave. The mushrooms add a additional meaty flavor which is super nice and the provolone is probably the perfect cheese but if you did a blend of stuff you might be able to find something better overall.

what a snob. he wouldn't be a cool youtuber if he had any humility and acted like he didn't eat gourmet everything.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting a pop-up ad for Babish's cookware line, which doesn't go away when I hit Dismiss. I consider this unwatchable on mobile because I won't go away no matter what I do.
If you know you're just going to fully unwrap your sandwich after wrapping it, might I tempt you to experiment with wrapping your sandwiches in a sushi mat? Maybe protect the mat with a reusable plastic sheet if you're worried about getting melted cheese goo in it?

I usually go with buffalo sauce and provolone on my chicken cheesesteak.
I'm torn, on the one side I was tempted to get some of your cookware but then you committed blasphemy by putting green peppers on a cheese steak and there is really no circumstance where that comes close to being ok. I don't know if I can watch this show anymore. You are better than this.
You can do a lot to make the steakums better. I agree they aren’t the best, but they are absolutely better than a hot pocket. Cooking them at the same time and not one at a time would be my first tip. I’d rather pay for them over whatever you paid for that kit. 🥰
You can make a cheese steak sandwich that is not a Philly cheese steak.
