Funny, I just drove by there and wondered about this place. Thanks for another great local spot. I also drove by the new Bob's BBQ location. I wonder when they will be open. Looks like a 2nd story will have seating as well.

Great call Misty! As for living in this area, near KPT, it's all good. We do have a share of questionable people, but where doesn't that exist. And as there are at least six government-assisted living communities between Kukui to Middle St., we have our challenges. Although at times, it makes our community stronger.
As for Kam Drive-Inn, I do love their food. And as for food that requires seasoning (like their mac salad), the lesson I learned from my mother, taste it first, and add what we want. It's better for something to lack a little seasoning, than something that has too much of something.
Aloha Misty: I hope all is going well with you and the ohana! This restaurant is a grand fine. It brought back a lot of memories of the great food of the days-gone-by for me; I haven’t seen a chili-Hamburger combo in many years. The shopping area near KPT looks like it hasn’t changed much since the days when P ‘n P Foods was operating a market in the area. I am glad that you enjoyed the food and Aiden got a great meal, also. I drive by this place every weekday but I’m too lazy to stop or I just go to Kalihi Bar-B-Q instead. I’m curious how these places will do once Bob’s opens up.

When you said the hamburger is made the local way where it’s softer with breadcrumb and egg, it reminded me of how my Mom soaked bread in milk to make hamburgers. Now I know it’s a local way. The chili and shrimp looks ono and reminisent of a Mom homestyle plate lunch. It beats a franchise burger meal any day. 😊

Deveined – Reminds me a bout a year ago my oldest son, who loves shrimp, asked me what the vein was. I told him. He gave me "wuchu talkin' bout Willis" look and I told him for real. he made a face. I told him, it's cooked, don't think just eat. LOL.
