I am not a veggie, but I love all the vegetables. I made gourd shrimp soup for dinner last night. It is a standard, no fuss kind of recipe with only few ingredients. This is another worth trying out recipe.
Again it is quite Chinese, using oil to bring the flavors out spices, and then stew a little bit. You won’t find MSG in the ingredients. My MSG is extracted from the fresh shrimp.
15 pieces fresh shrimp (peeled and tails removed)
2 cloves garlic finely chopped
1 tbs vegetable oil
1 bottle gourd (cut into 2-3cm strip)
2 cups water
Heat up a wok and add vegetable oil. Add the chopped garlic when the vegetable oil is hot and quickly sir-fry for 15 seconds. Add the cut bottle gourd, stir-frying for 4-5 minutes. Add 2 cups of water, bring the soup to boil. When the soup comes to boil add in the shrimps and salt. Once the shrimps turn to red, remove the wok from the heat. Dish out and ready to serve.
