I like going to Walmart bread discount and buy some bread to make hoagies and freeze. Freeze muffins and some pastries. 😮😅😅
You are such a precious young lady with wisdom far beyond most of your peers. ❤
I live in a rural area so going “to town” for groceries is pretty much a whole day trip! Weekly planning isn’t always the best for us but I always try to double up on dinners and freezing the leftovers to warm up on the wood stove during winter months. Also I’m in a tiny house so finding space in the freezer is quite a challenge but always make it somehow
My husband buys groceries on Sunday while I get ready for church. We eat any left overs on Saturday lunch and then have frozen pizza on Saturday night. A couple times since the boys left we have had more than we could eat on Saturday lunch in those cases we might have the rest on Monday night. Often the meat is enough for a couple meals.
I just adore your sweet channel Julia. 💗
WOW those tips are great and often forgotten. Thank you for sharing
Painters tape and a Sharpie. I thought I was the only one who used it. It peels off so easily and it’s great to use a container’s and bags in the refrigerator and freezer. Great tips. 😊
No mention of checking grocery stores flyer online and using the “auto clip coupons” off something that is already on your grocery list. Many stores also let you use a store coupon & a manufacturer coupon on the same product. I have knocked down a $80.00 grocery total down to $27.00 ding this.
Envious that your costco still has wild blueberries 🫐 we had to switch back to regular blueberries and it's not the same 🥲
I love to meal prep. Truly a life saver for me. Chicken soup with biscuits is one of go to meals.
Thank you Julia for this wonderful video of hacks. I love your three and five ingredient Crock-Pot dinners among the dozens of others. Cooking for one can be a challenge but I'm trying to be more creative and avoid fast food and saving money! And I absolutely love Walmart grocery pickup!
Fantastic information kiddo, best channel on YouTube. Thank you for sharing such incredible content and wonderful ideas. Please don't change who you are.
I make rice and beans with everything that bulks everything up! Rice and beans and meat! And a salad or an avocado always so delicious, feeds a bunch of people and very affordable!
It is worthwhile to find info on how to best prepare and freeze certain items and what to expect when they're thawed. With vegetables and fruits, the water expansion when freezing causes the cell walls to burst, so when thawed, they will never return to being crisp. It's also worthwhile to freeze items not touching on trays first, and then bag up when frozen, otherwise you run the risk of having things stuck together in frozen blocks that are difficult to separate (berries are notorious for this). Most cheeses get crumbly and a bit dry/gritty when frozen, so expect to use that cheese for melting (you may not even need to shred it if the crumbles are small enough), or shred the cheese before freezing (this is a great time-saver if you can grate a bunch of cheese at once and then portion in freezer bags and then take out what you need as you need it). Potatoes MUST be par-cooked before being frozen.
Great hacks. I have done pretty much all of them at one time or another. When my husband and I moved to Florida and bought our house we had no money. It was scary but, I found a discount meat market and made cheap meals. We made it through and I am so thankful that we don't have to worry about that anymore.
Thanks Julia! I will use lots of these ideas. I’m a senior and kinda new to cooking at home because I live alone and hate cooking 😂🤷♀️ But your videos are helping change my mindset. One thing I never realized is how great bread freezes. I don’t eat a lot of bread and it went bad quickly. I thought freezing it would make it dry and yucky. But I bought a loaf of my favorite kind and was amazed how soft and fresh it still was even after a month in my freezer!
Pam here….I’m one of those people who love Ramen noodles. I keep frozen veggies, corn, peas, petite green beans, carrots in the freezer and make up my bowl with handfuls of veggies, plus a SOUPER CUBE of frozen broth and chicken made from leftover rotisserie chicken. I add a dollop of peanut butter, some curry, some crushed red pepper and bam! Nuke for 9min let rest for 5 and YUM.
Our left over night was called Restaurant Night. you made a choice from the menu of what we had.
Ordering online at Walmart had really saved me money. The less I’m in the store being tempted, the better!
Wait, frozen milk? Holy cow, total game changer! That's our biggest waste! Bless you!
