Dogs Defecating in the Dining Room…

Gordon Ramsay is under fire after he defended a patron’s right to let their dog defecate in the dining room. While some of his dog-loving fans are thankful for the defense, many of his black, now former fans suspect there’s a reason he didn’t take this particular patron’s concerns

  1. As a person who has watched an insane amount of Gordon Ramsay's TV shows, I am reminded of one of my least favorite episodes of Kitchen Nightmares where he humiliated a Black owner after not really being able to find much wrong with the cleanliness of he and his wife's establishment. He punched down on him because he hadn't cleaned the interior of the ice machine. It was like he was trying to make him kiss the ring or something. I've been turned off from him ever since seeing that. The owner was so angry, he skipped a day of filming until Ramsay apologized for being disrespectful. I am not at all surprised that his response came across as racist. If you review various episodes where he "helped" Black restaurant owners, (for me) he kind of has a certain level of disrespect that he applies to them. 🀷🏽

  2. Can't people take their dogs outside if they're going to bring them to the restaurant???? I'm a white person and I hate how white people spoil their dogs. Train your dog to tell you when it needs to shit.

  3. Also its kinda crazy how influential gordon is. I took a road trip to cherokee TN recently and he ownes a massive casino on the boarder of the reservation which syphons money from their local economy as well as their water from their river. It’s kinda nuts to colonialism in real time this way

  4. I thought that actual service dogs were trained not to just go to the bathroom. Its been a while since I've watched someone go over genuine service dogs vs an owner who just bought a fake vest, but I wouldn't want a dog going in the same area as food.

  5. he has verbally castrated people for similar or a lot less than a dog shitting in the restaurant. If this was kitchen nightmares he would have said something along the lines of "Can't tell the difference between that and what's on the plate" or words to that effect

  6. I don't see how it's defensible, really. It violates any standing health and safety practice. if a human cannot piss or shit in a restaurant, then neither can an animal. this is a serious stain on his entire reputation. does he need to care? probably not. he's rich enough and probably has enough connections that it won't harm him on the long term. it' also illegal inthe UK nad presumably most countries with health and safety legislation.

  7. see the fact that they BROUGHT a pad with them tells me these people have done this before which??? is so strange to me lmao?? pads take up quite a lot of space in comparison to bags too, i swear most places have a patio or an outside place to take the dog that would have been fine, and as someone who's in London pretty often, nobody would have batted an eye :/ just so so strange

  8. I'm a girl who loves her dog. I am so so against dogs in places where food is served or sold. It's fucking disgusting like absolutely rancid to me. Even when my dog is fresh out of the bath he is still a dirty animal at the end of the day. If I saw this in a restaurant I fear I would blow the fuck up.

  9. Yeah I don't know, it's not that big a deal. It's not like it's shitting on the table. Also the pad is just there in case it needs to go, as far as we know it didn't even do anything.

  10. It's just such a bizarre thing to do. If a dog is not house trained or has incontinence, then it can't go into restaurants. It's just that simple. Do they really expect wait staff, who are dealing with FOOD, to disinfect and clean up?

  11. When I visited England one of my favorite things was going to local pubs and seeing the pub dog just hanging out and saying hi to people. I really love their dog culture over there. That said, I don't think they have that experience in fine dining spaces, and I SURE don't think those dogs were allowed to do their business inside the building. So I come down at a moderate "I don't mind dogs hanging out in certain types of restaurants." But let 'em relieve themselves outside, pls.

  12. It is CRAZY to me that the dog owners can lay the pad on the floor, anticipating the dog to pee but not having the decency to bring it out. Also in my country it's not really a thing to not pay your full bill even if you had a terrible experience, we should really practice that a little more (WITHIN REASON) and claim our power to shitty restaurants lol.

  13. Why don't they just pick up the dog and let it do his business inside the bathroom of the restaurant if the dog have any mobility issues or illnesses and they can't just exit the restaurant and let it do his business outside is not like this is the kind of unsanitary and gross behavior any true dog lover or owner would tolerate in their own houses let alone in the dinning room or any place they eat even if is outside the house.

  14. i dont remember the last time ive seen gordon ramsey actually be a chef. hes just a ceo for "his" restaurant chain now

  15. Maybe hot take but I think dog culture has gotten out of control and everyone has become WAY too comfortable bringing them everywhere so this story feels unsurprising. Even down to the lady comparing her dog to a NEWBORN.

  16. If you know your dog has incontinence issues, it's logical to keep them outside at least at a terrace?? And if an accident ever happened inside, I'd be profusely apologizing omg
This makes me sad because people who watched this might get angry/suspicious at the next person they see with a service dog in a restaurant, when they are the most well-trained, reliable dogs out there. I'm also pretty sure if a service dog got incontinence issues, they would be retired? or AT LEAST kept out of this kind of spaces

  17. As a response people in the nearby area should bring their dogs to all simultaneously pee and poop at ALL Gordon Ramsey restaurants! Call it the Gordon Doggy Style Challenge 😎 πŸΆπŸ’©

  18. Excellent commentary. I agree 100% with everything you said. πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½

  19. Did we see the dog actually alleviate themselves? Because I use those puppy pads for their water bowls when I take my dogs to restaurants.

  20. 1. β€œRacism is not merely a simplistic hatred. It is, more often, broad sympathy toward some and broader skepticism toward others.” β€” Ta-Nehisi Coates, "We Were Eight Years in Power: An American Tragedy"

    2. That demographic is real comfortable ignoring all hygiene and commonsense around animals. Historically, so.

  21. also the "oh but ur baby shits too!" is insanely dehumanizing, as its not just an example of racism but also the way that a lot of white folks have a tendancy to be very apathetic towards CHILDREN in general. though that may have something to do with the fact that white ppl famously fucking hate eachother.
