If you have a meal, it costs you 20 usd and they expect you to pay 20% in tips. then that meal was 25. might as well just raise prices 20% skip the tips and pay the staff better. At this point people are expecting it anyway :/
4:07 peak Santi ππππ
My mom always taught me to just double the tax for tip! But those proposed tips do throw me off often!
Sounds like the best solution is to just have everyone stop tipping entirely
forgot something, no more pennies
Iβm only tipping at restaurants or if an employee goes above and beyond. If youβre just handing me something why am I tipping you? π I feel no shame pressing no tip itβs completely unreasonable to ask for a tip at a lot of these places
Japan's minimum wage actually isn't high. I wish people would stop getting this wrong. Prefectures set their own minimums, but even the highest is only about 1226 JPY, which comes out to ~$7.70 USD. Barely much higher than the US's $7.25 minimum wage, which is often dogged on for being too low. The real difference is that Japan's cost of living can sometimes be lower and they have more affordable housing options. Small rentals for a single person aren't uncommon, unlike in the US. But keep in mind, if you aren't Japanese yourself, they'll often want to charge you more in rent.
Yeah, I don't tip ever unless it's a sitdown place. I hit the $0 option with a smile on the tablets.
I am officially done with the theory channel I have been bombarded with multiple ads yes add people asking for money or whatever I'm done
Iβm surprised you didnβt touch on a few of these restaurants being found to lie about the tipping percentage. That is, they would display 25% as an option, but the amount it would enter is actually higher. I personally think tipping is out of control and needs to be eliminated altogether; and restaurants can decide whether that mean raising prices or actually paying their employees a livable wage
I don't tip before any service. Nor for people doing there job. Small restaurant business. And waitresses. Pizza delivery
And only cash.
I never tip π
I miss japan. I over paid at a ramen place not too far from base. That lady chased us down and gave the extra back.
0:32 AND MOOOOOORE!!!
honestly tips before a service should be illegal because it absolutely could cause favoritism and poor service for less or no tips [and definitely does], ignoring all the other tipping issues, thats such a dumb thing to have ever introduced
10:28 Ouch.
I only tip at sit down restaurants. if i am going to pick up food i tip nothing. If i don't make them have to bus a table and make them constantly watch over me to make sure everything is good then i don't feel guilty not tipping. I'm getting the bare minimum service that food is made and proper.
The other major thing to note with all of this is that I have never once taken a look at what anyone else is tipping in front of me in line, and I'd bet no one else does either. I'm not judging you. No one's judging me. Hit that custom button guilt-free. The less that tipping gets normalized, the more that actual wages stick around.
maybe just raise the minimum wage to something that is not stupidly low, enought to live off of and then pay servers that wage and do away with the concept of tipping altogether.
I only tip if I'm being served food at a location where someone will check in on me or get my dishes for me. I've pressed the custom button TONS of times and put a nickel if I can't press zero.
I donβt tip apart from servers at sit down restaurants. And then itβs $10-15 depending on how long we stayed. The only exception is my barber. He gets 50%
in japan it is consider rude for tiping
My dad trained me to tip 20% before COVID, but I do not tip unless I am tipping someone who was a waiter/waitress or w delivery person. Exceptions exist, but are not common.
Iβm grateful such a thing like tipping is not unacceptable culture in my country
cant say im surprised, ive seen tip from online shops selling custom keyboard parts.
I work at a grocery store not naming the place but we have people trying to tip us as well, cashiers and courtesy clerks. We canβt accept tips!! But they get upset if we donβt except there tip.
