Interesting! Seeing the blackened soup i can't help but check if it is similar across the Pacific in southeast Asia and verified the effect is the same black soup but the color from burnt or charred coconut meat (it is called Tiyula Itum) and this one from burnt chili.
Duuuude it's awesome seeing some indigenous folks from Mexico being showcased. Cochinita pibil is one of the best dishes!! So glad you had the chance to experience this. Putting it on my bucket list 🙂

My grandpa is from Yucatán too so I grew up eating cochinita, pib, poc chuc, panuchos, etc I can say it looks authentic and delicious
