Jerk chicken is always the safest bet when you go to a city that is not known to have a large or any population of people from the Caribbean 😅. They always mess us anything curry and oxtail.
If it's not nyc, the best for me, or other specific cities, the Jamaican food will be mid because they know people aren't familiar and have nothing to compare their food to. If they're in nyc, the competition is harder and critique harsher. I'm not Jamaican but I've eaten so much homemade and restaurant Jamaican food, that I know when someone is being lazy with their cooking 😂

You can tell by the color of the oxtail that that was southern stewed and not Jamaican. Southern is traditionally orange/red & Jamaican brown/black. 🙂↕️ I would’ve needed a refund. lol

I'm sorry I'm gonna be that guy lol ..so I hate when people say man Cali has the best Mexican food cause it's close to Mexico lmao . I mean folks it's 2026 you realize there are people of all races and religions almost all over so the best Mexican food for example can be in Ohio if a skilled Mexican went there and opened etc . Italian food Arabic food etc soul food ..it's not about location anymore I've had better Mexican food outside of Cali and I've had better Arabic food in Florida than in Anaheim or Michigan for example

The best Jerk Chicken I have ever had in my life comes from multiple places, including Portland, Jamaica 🇯🇲. I don't know exactly what happens to majoroti Jamaicans when they open restaurants in America, but I think they lose a lot of the Jamaican flavor, trying to Americanize the food. Just stick to the island vibes, my peeps!
