My sister's company sent to New York for two years. She started to put on weight for no reason. It turned out that the American version of what she normally ate was packed full of sugar. This was 35 years ago.
There's 2 kinds of visitors the one's that absolutely LOVE THE USA and the one's that just mock TF out of it. However the vacation effect is real and I'd say most are intoxicated by the cheap beer farts and toxic masculinity and over the top faketriotism

Yeah, i find it a little sad they are going to all the mega-corp fast food chains and such, but i can’t blame them… the mind altering marketing is so strong it crosses oceans. We know its a scam, but how are they supposed to know about the hidden pockets of culture that are sparsely dotted here and there. The hidden gems are hidden… pretty much for their own survival, because once word gets out there’s an unmolested culture developing within an area the locusts will swarm to devour it.
France… Every time I buy clothes it gives the European size ('S' in my case) and right underneath it the French one size bigger (M). What is it with French that they need their special sizing, within the EU? It feels a bit like a "look how thin we are." Yet I bet most wear sizes L and XL anyway and little is produced smaller than S. 😏

The Scottish are eating lobstah, oysters, and pretty high quality food in Boston. I did see a bunch go into duckin to get drinks. They are having a blast though. Boston is uniting not dividing people. Americans should stop eating fast food but its cheap. Food prices are insane in the US.

After two weeks in San Fran last year it took a further week on my return home for my stomach to readjust. The food there did look and taste really good, but your body definitely feels all the additives its consuming.

Something I enjoy about the States is the availability of ethnic food: Greek, Persian, Asian, the Latino cultures and more. Never a chain though, and often a food truck.
I've worked in other countries and enjoyed their foods, and sure, there are ethnic areas, but they aren't as comingled as the States. Had a wonderful Nepalese meal in redneck TN.

This was a very interesting video and gave some new insight into what the U.S is really like. I never even heard of that giant gas station thing. That is insane. I am happy to say, I will never see that, at least I hope I never see that in Canada. I had to google Ontario's biggest gas station. It has 20 pumps, but it is beside the busiest highway in North America, the 401. For some strange reason, I really like this video. People think they know the U.S, but there is so much we outsiders will never know or understand.
I went on a few business trips to the USA. One time I could see the business I had to go to from my hotel. In the morning I left the hotel to walk over. Should have been a five minute walk. After 15 minutes I gave up and went back to the hotel to get my rental car. There was NO WAY that you could walk from the hotel to a nearby business. Completely cut off by roads. Unbelievable!
