Trump really screwed the pooch on this one and may have cost the Republican party the mid-term elections.
But Trump painted himself into a corner with no way out.
The stockpile of weapons and ammo was severely depleted with Ukraine. What few missiles and bombs left in the US arsenal is very low and will take years to replenish. So there is that.
Had Trump destroyed the electrical power grid and the oil refineries like he threatened the he would have been charged with war crimes. So it was a no win situation. He should have done it anyway.
I will wait to see what Victor Davis Hansen has to say to see if I am right.
