Baked Ziti – A Family Favorite and it’s Easy to Make!
Baked Ziti
16 ounce package ziti pasta
24 ounce tub ricotta cheese
8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 Tablespoon oregano
2 jars (32 ounces each) spaghetti or marinara sauce, divided
1/2 cup grated Parmesan Cheese
Preheat oven to 375°.
Boil ziti according to directions on the package. While ziti is boiling, mix together in a large bowl the ricotta and mozzarella cheeses, egg, garlic, onion powder, oregano and one and a half jars of the spaghetti or marinara sauce. Set aside.
Drain the ziti when done; then stir the ziti into the cheese/sauce mixture. Spoon this into a greased 9” x 13” baking dish. Top with the remaining sauce and sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese. Bake for 30 minutes. Allow to stand for 15 minutes before serving.
This is great serve served with a salad and some garlic bread.

You choose the right cheesy dish for the backdrop of such a cheesy joke!
Baked ziti was my go to order at Italian restaurants too 😋
So glad you made this video. I got your cookbook about 6 months ago and made this. Love it! The only thing I add is a handful of Peas just to add an occasional pop.
I love my jar opener. It’s saved my arthritic hands. This looks absolutely delicious. Melissa has good taste. Thank you for sharing… Looks like we could be in for a soggy weekend. Stay safe. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I absolutely love making and eating baked ziti! 😀😀
We don’t have baked ziti, except at potlucks. My husband doesn’t like most pasta dishes! I am going to make this with ground beef and have it when we have company. I do have and love your cookbook. I hate that June is ending. I’ll e your dad jokes and the way you laugh while you are telling them.❤
That looks so delicious 😋 add a side salad and a piece of garlic bread yum hope you had a wonderful Father’s Day and I loved your dad jokes 😂have a blessed day Tom and Melissa 🙏🏻💖
Double yolks are good luck! I love baked ziti! Thanks guys! Have a beautiful day everyone!
A noisy kitchen is a happy kitchen ❤!! You know my favorite kitchen sounds growing up was the electric coffee percolator and the screened back door creaking open and slamming shut 😊! Sometimes I'd wake up before everyone else; I'd get dressed brush my teeth, grab a book and sit at the kitchen table reading until an adult got up. When I got old enough to be trusted to make coffee; I'd have it ready for them! I felt SO grown up making the coffee 😂😂😂.
Can’t wait to try.😊
My favorite joke– What does a 500 pound canary say? CHIRP!!!!!! (Say it as loud as you can). My high school teacher told that and I'm 79 years old. I have always remembered it.
Fyi, also, to keep pasta from boiling over, if you lay a wooden spoon or utensil across the top of the pot, it will do the trick! Works every time!! Love your videos & recipes!
Good Morning Tom and Melissa from Michigan. It is 67° and cloudy today. This sounds like the perfect recipe for today. I am thinking of adding some Sweet Italian sausage and mushrooms. Thank you for another delicious recipe. I also have your cookbook.❤ Have a great day! 😊
Years ago, I’d make 6-8 pans of lasagna. 1-2 for dinner, 2-3 to give away and 2+ for the freezer.
I thought you were gonna make bud choke on the ziti. Thank you for the laughs and recipes. Love you guys.
I love spatulas! I am not very domesticated, but a spatula is capable of getting more off/out of container than a spoon.
It took me awhile to comprehend the geometry difference and then one day it struck me! A circle (according to the "experts") has only one point out of how ever many it takes to complete a circle within that 360 degree circle. The spatula, on the other hand, has straight lines … so … the straight lines of a spatula has many points in a row ….
Once I figured that all out, I wondered: Why didn't I understand that from the get-go? Probably because I had already developed a preference for a spatula …. I just had not been taught the geometric explanation.
That looks delicious and would be great for meatless Monday or if you have vegetarian meal needs.
