Surviving off Dollar Store Food for 7 DAYS | Budget Cooking Reality Check
TOP 10 Ways to Save on Groceries – https://www.grocerybootcamp.com/cut-your-grocery-bill
Fitness & Adventure Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@christineunfiltered
Can you survive an entire week eating only Dollar Tree food? I attempted this grocery store challenge to see if it is possible.
This video documents my attempt to live exclusively on ingredients purchased at Dollar Tree for seven days. I started completely from scratch without any existing pantry staples, meaning I had to build every meal from the ground up using only what was available on the shelves. This experiment is for anyone curious about the reality of budget cooking and whether low-cost ingredients can actually sustain a week of balanced eating.

The elder's scrolls in tomato sauce!
Thought you would have moved by now
It’s so sad that in America you need to rely on ultra processed junk food to eat affordable 😢 fruits and veggies should be the cheapest foods
If money isn’t the issue, I would absolutely be reaching out to friends/family to see who has a Sam’s club membership and have them order certain items to be shipped to me (50$ means free shipping).
Then try to find my nearest aldi’s/walmart. Both of which often offer pick up and delivery too.
Dollar tree would have to be a true emergency.
I know it sounds odd, but you almost can't afford to eat from the DT anymore, since they keep raising prices. I love those Knorr side dish packages but get them at Walmart since they're $1 each. Even Winco has them cheaper. They are so easy to add cooked meat, rotisserie chicken, and / or frozen veggies. Nice meal started for when you just don't have the energy, but seriously $1.25 now?
Mirror, mirror on the wall, I'm my mother after all!!
Dollar Tree's frozen veggies are suss. No just pricewise but also because they're from China and I don't trust that all safety protocols are followed. Unlike other countries. Holland,, Mexico etc.
$60 for one person a week seems crazy to me. But then I started counting my spending and it didn’t seem so bad😅
Have you watched the channel "Dollartree Dinners "? Now she does include salt and pepper and cooking oil but nothing else.
Well done n Ty 😊
6:02 I grew up poor and we had these as a treat sometimes until the janitor at the school where my mom worked in the school cafeteria (later as an aid then secretary) offered us some homemade and would give them to us during the times my dad would be out of work for months even years at a time (long story). He was Mexican and he and his wife made them to mainly sell for extra income. They were so good. Best I’ve ever had. He spoiled us! I loved him! Such a great and giving family.
These are better if you have some wolf or Hormel no bean chili to go on top. My mom would add a can of water to make it spread better like a sauce plus it made one can feed four if you had it with these or hot dogs. It definitely made them more palatable and because they were a treat during hard times it became a comfort food weirdly. I obviously prefer homemade though
Yes vermicelli is in with the rice. I didn’t realize this. Yes, Rice-a-roni brand obviously has "roni"/ pasta. Knorr's only says so in the ingredients list. Just checked it now for the first time.
I make dinner with shrimp flavored ramen with chinese frozen veg , and tuna. And have 1-2 Vegetable spring rolls or egg rolls. As a meal. I used to eat the whole bowl of ramen. Now i eat half. Just make sure that there is enough water to account for the Vegetables and tuna. Sometimes i add some teriyaki sauce to the ramen for more flavor.
Next time, feed your family for a week from DT, like many people need to do.
I grew up on canned tomales. Same brand. They were made with beef or pork, not sure. But we liked them.
1.50 for the peanuts?! I’m going to buy the shelf
I always wonder who is keeping dots in business 😂😂😂😂
The dots were on sale, I don't remember why it was, but they will go back to 1.25. It is a good sale though.
There is a Maple flavor of those mini cookies. They are sooooo good.
How do people in rural America manage to eat if a Dollar Tree is the only store in town? Asking from Australia.
Do they grow their own vegetables and fruit, or just not have access to any?
I love grits with honey, butter and lots of black pepper !! I also like it with cheddar cheese.
awesome
😊
Our Walmart in northern Canada is 4x the price of your Walmart for broccoli
canned tamales have been around for at least 35 years lol. ate when i was even a kid in the 90s
Brave soul ❤
That is a LOT of carbs and sugar. Enjoy type 2 diabetes.
3 dollars a dozen is like chump change even the CAD conversion rate. We get an 18 pack and its 12 dollars at walmart in canada.

I love those egg rolls. They're great for diets.
My husband likes the frosted oatmeal cookies
Please, Christine, are you going to address the issue with the fries? Did you add another bag of crinkle cut? Just tell us! 😀
I love watching these type of videos. When it comes to buying food at dollar tree I'm very selective on what I get.
