No state has the best soul food! Soul food is born out of hard times. Therefore, all 50 states argue over who's food is better. Just like we argue over who has the worst weather.

Like any other country in the world, the US is also has its own history. Some people (that I've also spoken to irl), do not bother making a quick google search and simply believe that fast food is all americans know. It's like saying pizza and pasta is all italians know and sushi is all japanese know. Obviously it isn't true. I am passionate about cultures from festivities, to food, to costumes and so on. It makes me so mad when people have such blatant stereotypes and refuse to even listen to actual facts.
If I could go to the US, I would love to try the Texas BBQ.

I am getting such a kick out of seeing our World Cup visitors get totally spoiled with American food, but I am sad because I feel we are sending some truly "broken" people back to their home countries. I think going home is going to be the real culture shock. They may never be the same.

I would recommend the seafood potato at Roux 61, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Also, try Mama J's, here in Richmond, Virginia for great soul food!

I live in Texas, but St Louis BBQ beats Texas. In St Louis, the sauce is baked into the meat.
As a New Yorker I’ve had Katz’s a few times! Love it but not cheap for a sandwich! I’d definitely recommend it if you’re a tourist!

You have no idea how many chicken fried steaks I’ve eaten in my life being TEXAN! 😆 That’s what I would recommend to foreigners. Just find a place that does it right. Mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans and a bread roll. That’s how it’s done. Use ALL the cream gravy on it! 😋
