That floor is brilliant. Once the tacks are out you can give it a sanding. Stripping the paint from the wall boards might be a winter chore. You are doing to well with this. Happy Birthday Mumsy!

Hi Rebecca, lovely to see the progress you are making. I came across a product that I’d never heard of called “hard wax oil” it comes in different colours, you just clean the floorboards let them dry no sanding needed and then paint this stuff on it drys completely with no sticky residue just Matt rich coloured flooring without having to sand. I’m glad there were enough boards to do the dining room paneling from what you took up from the guest bedroom floor.
I like the original floor in there better than the one that was installed over it.
This may sound silly but try using a regular wax crayon to mask the nicks in Doris. The colored crayon wax will help hide the blemishes. Or you can try a felt tip marking pen in a similar color to tint the Nick in the wood then apply the beeswax over it.
I am with you on the paint roller thing…prefer my brush, albeit mine is a scooch bigger than your special one.
Congratulations on your floorboards! They do look lovely. The reused boards are going to be so nice as a trim, and I think that the variations in quality will actually help give the finished product the look that it's been there forever. It will look so good!

I've had outside showers. But in a nice rustic looking shed – ISH. Very bracing when you live on the coast…. Solar that never actually warms it up.
The panneling on a floor is a strange one. The floorboards look much better.

Making progress on the cottage little at a time. Sadly, no kitty cuddles. There were 12 kitties and about that many people – and one small child that chased all the kitties.. so they hid. My friend and I (both childless by choice) coaxed one out with a toy.. and the kid ran right over and scared it. We tried to explain you have to be quiet and let them come to you but kid didn't listen and parent didn't care. Ruined it for everyone. At least the rescue got some financial support. Edit: at my apartment, I would have to pay an extra $25/month pet rent so need to check with manager on exact steps before looking seriously. I figure the universe will provide a new kitty at the right time. I won't limit to a kitten, older would be ok. Either way, my heart will remain open.

I always use a wide brush rather than a roller… I agree that it just isn't satisfying. With a brush, you dont get all those little specks of paint flying around.
And I'm rather proud that cutting in the paint comes easily to me… I hate taping in. 😊

Then, I thought, is there a way I could ask for your address without all being able to see it? Have you tried boot polish for colour the blemishes on the dressing table. Then use your bees wax.
Sorrel and mint soup is lovely. I grow sorrel and mint in the garden so apart from the onion it's free.

Wish I had your cottage Rebecca, it's absolutely wonderful, lucky you. I use a paint brush, can't seem to master the roller, more paint on the floor than on the wall.😂
