  1. Making hard boiled eggs in my Instant Pot was a revelation to me. And talk about easy to peel.

  2. Pulling the eggs, mayo, and mustard out the fridge and saying "come with me" like a squat assistant to a rich bachelor trying to usher us to the meeting with said bachelor lol

  3. Wow. This video just threw me all the way back to my sophomore year in college, just starting to get into cooking more seriously, and finding this wonderful combination of sketch comedy, cooking and Mr. Wizard. The newer video have all been great, but this was the first one that literally gave me flashbacks.

  4. Alton is the yolk. The yellow part considered the meat at when it grows up and the white part of the feathers of the chicken when they grow up to be eaten after they’ve been fertilized, of course

  5. Aton: “or, you know…you could just…suck this out of the bag. But it’s frowned upon.”
*cuts away to title card “since when has that stopped you”
Me out loud to my cat: please smash cut to Alton Brown sucking deviled yolks out of a ziploc bag please

And ya know folks? They fucking ABSOLUTELY nailed it, amazing work everyone

  6. Thank you, Editor, for acknowledging those that can't stand the sound of chewing food! Don't mind the O noises, but the chewing is just ick.

That being said, never had deviled eggs with butter and not relish and cayenne pepper. Had them with pepper flakes and wasn't a fan of that.

  7. That's a whole lot of trouble for something my Instant Pot does…and can make them medium, which I prefer. Peels hell of a lot easier.

  8. I wonder how that aquarium pump would compare to a wort chiller. Sure, that thing fits in a drawer…and is affordable, but when I need a liquid cold quickly, that's where I head. Also, a big coil of copper is attractive.

  9. Can I ask for a soft boiled egg episode? Because hard boiled eggs have never been my thing but soft boiled (and poached and over easy – both I can do!) is not quite in my wheelhouse. Regardless, a runny egg episode would be egg-scellent!

(Unless that's already been done and I missed it, in which case, mea culpa mea culpa.)

  10. 10:15 also, and more to the point, we ship our the distances as large as most CONTINENTS.
In Europe, in bring most eggs are, at worst, regional. To us, that translates to "from within the state". (Texas notwithstanding).

Point is, the eggs they get are (likely) simply fresher, just by the nature of their logistics.

  11. What's your opinion on newer Texas style deviled eggs that use just a touch of horseradish/wasabi and a dash of dill weed in the mix? I had some recently and they go REALLY well with BBQ & potato salad, but I could also see how that wouldn't catch on elsewhere

  12. I have always made develed eggs with paprika. I wonder if I can just add some pink pepper corn to my usual mix? Might be fun. 🙂

  13. 27:17 I thought it was started by mouse studies where they developed tumours when fed MSG… it was later debunked, the proportional quantities were well in excess of what you would encounter in a typical meal… in other words, the portion is the poison.

  14. “See you next time on……”. Dang it Alton you got me. Yes I said it out loud. Well played good sir. Well played.

  15. I love all these options for eggs!! I now propose for your consideration : take the hard boiled / steamed eggs peel some hot (yes it kinda sux but you get over it) and smash them up with butter, pepper, and salt. Eat em' just like that because they are yummy.

Yes, in college every one thought I had lost my f'ing mind the first time I made them this way…until they tried it.

  16. On the topic of MSG: (30:45) Some people claim to be allergic. I wonder: is that real? Or a misinterpretation/misunderstanding of something MSG adjacent?
