Drinking game idea: take a shot everytime josh drops something or knocks something over in this video
Jk you will die 😂
Josh when I was a prep cook for a catering company I don’t know how many things I put through the robo coup but I’m definitely mentally scarred by the experience.
PLEASE! Everyone start the video and just press arrow left on keyboard when you hear the 'think' after "There are…". We need to make a culinary master piece out of that. I give it a 10 out of 10
I know someone who uses a metal cutting board and it makes me cringe everytime I see them use it because everything just slides around on it and pushing your knife into metal just doesn't seem smart
My wife and I got an Emeril Lagasse branded food processor/blender/citrus juicer for a wedding gift almost 20 years ago. That thing is a champ. Still going strong.
immersion blender over regular blender – more versatile
I gotta say that getting 1/4 sheet trays was a game changer for me. It’s just my wife and I so having a 1/2 sheet tray in the fridge for things like steak take up a ton of room plus it never looks like enough food on a 1/2 tray. 1/4 tray fixes all that.
I have been laughing my ass of just because Josh is explaining why the normal stuff works better than all sorta upgrades. Like a Automatic shredder to a normal knife XD
A tall metal pot for scrapes/waste… literally god tier cooking efficiently without having to go to the garbage can multiple times
Please add Arabic to the dubbing list in the video settings.❤
I only have bamboo and glass cutting boards…f me right?
“You need a stainless steel sheet tray” -holds up an aluminum sheet tray… 😂 no hate I have both and both work great!
I’ve mutilated my hand twice now on a mandolin. NEVER. AGAIN.
2:57 don't buy a dollar store knife. Save 10$ trust me.
You have converted me to deli containers. Love them. Especially the heat resistant ones.
2:14 is that chefs knife fancy japanese made $600 beast?
I finally upgraded from a $10 chef knife to a $50 Mercer, and the difference is like night and day
My favorite “must-have” is a knife sharpener! I used to discard many knives because they became dull over time, but the knife sharpener changed that. Now, I can invest in more expensive knives, knowing I can keep them for a longer period. 2:49
Hey Josh You Forgot One Tip About The Blenders…
Something I've Learned About Blenders Is They Are Cheeping Out On The Motor…
Make Sure The Gears Underneath Are Metal And Not Plastic… Or They Break Easily…
You Can Still Buy A Cheaper Blender Just Be Sure It Has Metal Gears Or They Burn Out…
As an Asian, the rice cooker is the number one essential tool cus it can also cook a bunch of other stuff and be a good food warmer.
Have had a Kitchen Aid mixer for almost 30 years… never bought the expensive attachments…. it would be nice to have them to make pasta, grind beef, shred cheese, etc…. but no big deal… i do it another way or buy retail.
Unironically, a rice cooker is the first thing I bought and I moved to my place. I eat rice every day.
Air fryer
I had a Vitamix blender ($400 version) and it shit out on me in less than 2 years. Out of warantee. Never buying Vitamix again. Ninja is a fraction of the price and they've held up WAY longer and still are almost as good
I have almost all of these things, so I guess that makes me a great cook… 🙂
I've been wanting that Made-In saucier for so long, but it's hard to spend $200 on a pan

😂😂😂
For can openers I prefer the smooth edge style that cuts along the side of the can, both prevents the top from falling in and contaminating the food, and allows a quick cover to put in the fridge if you're only using a portion.
Sorry to be that guy, however you have mentioned spiders to be very useful, where would you rank them?
i am recently living alone and learning to cook and your videos help me a lottttttttttttttttttttt
Props to the editor who bleeps Josh with different but appropriate food related censors
With a knife and a tablespoon, you have an avocado tool
I have some unitaskers because I have been doing my own cooking for a long, long time. I bought a cheapo egg slicer because it makes quick work of the job, and if you slice the egg from three directions, creating tidy little cubes of egg in a matter of seconds. Worth it to me because I like chopped hard boiled eggs in a variety of dishes. When the plastic one wore out, I found one in stainless steel for a very reasonable price. Worth it to me.
Another useful tool for my kitchen and cooking habits are small scoopers. They make portioning so quick and easy. Definitely worth it for me to upgrade to dishers that can handle heavier, stiffer cookie dough. A lot of the cheap ones just aren’t up to the job. I use them for meatballs, portioning small amounts to be frozen (easier than an ice cube tray), subdividing all sorts of mixtures easily and quickly.
I've got all this and more but watched just to make sure I'm not slipping up in these modern times.
Plastic wrap can also be used as a makeshift belt in a pinch
Not me off to buy a garlic press
What's the hate on bamboo cutting boards? Honestly asking.
kitchen scales are not expensive, I don't know what you're talking about. And they're kinda essential.
Thanks buddy 🙂
Only thing missing here (for me personally) would be a mortar & pestle. Oldest kitchen gadget ever but I just can't live without it – and no, a food processor is not an alternative, or even a better version of it!
Good episode BUT….. if you are a YouTube chef and you do an episode about “ essential kitchen tools” and you are bold enough to also say verbatim “ avoid unitaskers” and then lean into the definition and why they are bad……. PLEASE YOU MUST GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO THE GOAT OG Originator of this SAID WORD AND REASONS AKA @ALTONBROWN HE HAS BEEN SAYING THIS VERBATIM FOR DECADES. DONT STEAL . BUT DO SHOUT OUT RESPECT TO HIM FOR PREACHING THIS FOR YEARS. THANKS.
I cook all my food by slapping it.
One silicone spatula is not nearly enough. A woodworker cannot have too many clamps and a cook cannot have too many spatulas. I have 10 and, except for the biggest one, I use them every day. Minimally, get two medium sized and one small.
How did bro not mention a wooden spoon 😭😭
8 inches is pretty big 🙁 its not about the size of your knife but the waves of the ocean <3
(fr tho 10" feels akwards to me)
