The Stereotype About Chinese Food Is Wrong

Many people hold the stereotype that Chinese cuisine is nothing but soy sauce, heavy oil, and excessive salt—but Cantonese cooking couldn’t be further from that.
It is rooted in lightness and freshness.
Despite having a vast range of cooking methods, Cantonese chefs are very restrained with seasonings, always prioritizing each ingredient’s natural taste.
And this is just one of the many regional styles within Chinese cuisine.

  1. What's wrong with relying on seasonings? Food should be seasoned properly. I think a better criticism would be the willingness of chinese people to making anything a food

  2. No one has a problem with seasonings. It’s when you use the same seasoning on every single thing, from meat to vegetables to rice to noodles (soy sauce) 😂

  3. Same. Some Chinese don’t think the western cuisine should be put on human’s table.

  4. Alot of people nowadays online can't fathom the idea of ingredients having their own natural flavor and believe everything is bland unless buried in spices.

  5. they say that because they've only had panda express and even panda express isn't just soy sauce, orange chicken, spring roll, sweet and sour pork aren't even soy sauce based

  6. Tbh Chinese do love the shiny look on a dish which involves oil, a quick stir fry over high temperature which also requires oil to keep the texture and juiciness. However many dishes are not greasy, but they are not viral on YouTube

  7. I do agree with what you say about Cantonese cuisines but the ones you’ve shown in the videos (roasted chickens and ducks and friend sticks) are exactly opposite except that white beans. 😅
