How to Light and Shoot Product Videos (In Your Dining Room)

Fujifilm helps photographers and filmmakers thrive through its strong community. There’s so much to learn from fellow creators. Secret tips and tricks, Film Simulation recipes, everything to keep you in the moment with a Fujifilm camera.

Visit your local camera store, feel the camera in your hands, and meet the people behind the counter – they will be thrilled to give you a full walkthrough. Those five minutes of hands-on time will tell you more than any spec sheet ever could. Find a dealer near you at http://shopusa.fujifilm-x.com.

Recently, I was asked to provide feedback on an unreleased product: a cocktail shaker from a well-known culinary brand. The company asked me to take it for a spin, make a few cocktails, and fill out a survey. Survey?! Boring. I’ll do you one better – I’ll make a whole promo product video, right here in my dining room.

  1. Where are Jordan and Chris? Only 2 minutes into the video and it is already informative! Straight to the point as always. ❤ PetaPixel

  2. Yes, kids, everyone's got some cob lights laying around their kitchen! Check your cupboards and drawers! There's probably a motorized slider somewhere in your backyard. You can start today, no excuses!

  3. Like this new style of content, gear reviews are nice, but we're also supposed to shoot with it. It's also interesting to see how you go from a bright yet flat and badly-lit room to a very passable studio setup @4:53.

  4. It's interesting to see the difference lighting and movement makes in these shots, and how they come together as a narrative that is easy to follow. Thanks for the demonstration!

  5. Wow, amazing. Really cool to make the video and so much work, and I wonder how AI will replace this and many things we do.

  6. Great demonstration and execution. I know the last video got a bit of flack, but this was really helpful as a tutorial for someone that knows nothing about product videography.
