Samakova is back. In this new story from a Ukrainian mountain village, Svetlana and Dmitry’s five children turn plain white shirts into Messi, Haaland, Ronaldo, Kaká and Mbappé jerseys. With their father as coach and referee, they mark out a field, train together and play a World Cup of their own.

While the children play, Svetlana prepares a warm family meal on the wood stove. Potatoes become golden handmade patties, while sauerkraut from the cellar simmers with carrots, smoked pork and sausage. Then rain rolls over the mountains, everyone gathers around the table, and the real prize is shared by the whole family.
