Meet the Founding Fathers of Yemeni Food in America! πŸ–πŸ‡ΎπŸ‡ͺ

Located on Atlantic Avenue in Cobble Hill, Yemen Cafe began as a social club for newly arrived Yemeni immigrants in 1986. Over the years, the cafe evolved into a restaurant where Yemeni families could come get a taste of home in America, becoming the first of its kind in the U.S.

The food here is outrageously good. I’m not sure how else to say it. I’ve been coming to Yemen Cafe for more than a decade, and every dish I’ve had here is mind bogglingly flavorful. The meat is fall-off-the-bone tender, the portions are insane, and the prices are affordable. What more can you ask for?

Sid, the son of the original owner, was nice enough to show me around a few weeks back. It’s cliche to say that they make you feel like family here, but at the very least Sid makes you feel like a homie the second you walk in the door.

Do yourself a favor and go check out Yemen Cafe. This place is a Brooklyn original and there aren’t too many spots like this left.

Long live the Founding Fathers of Yemeni Food in America!
