That type of mochi is called "Snow ball muah cheei" and is very popular in China.. I had it for the first time last year when I visited. It's also sold in NYC. Anyway, the fruits are chopped smaller and they pack more than one filling. The one I had in china is crazy packed! the outside is softer too and chewier than the Japanese Daifuku.
was the one in the Philippines harder to eat? It seems it is with the giant chunks of mango.
