A short taxi ride from Bilbao in the Basque Country, Spain, you’ll find the picturesque Boroa Restaurant or Boroa Jatetxea, a One Michelin Star restaurant near Bilbao, set in the beautiful Biscay countryside with views of the Basque mountains and valleys.
The restaurant itself is incredible and set in a 15th-century farmhouse in the Basque countryside, with details lovingly restored from a nearby church. The staff gave us a tour and we loved hearing all about the historic Basque architecture and restaurant heritage.
The Michelin Star tasting menu consists of a fine dining twist on traditional Basque cuisine and Spanish gastronomy. We opted for the €100 Mugarra 10-course tasting menu, which was absolutely fabulous. Standout dishes included all of the Basque pintxo-style snacks we started with and the incredible brothy prawn rice dish, a highlight of this Bilbao fine dining experience.
