Delmonico’s in NYC is not only one of the oldest restaurants in NYC, it is one of the oldest restaurants in America! It will soon have been around for 200 years, and actually it technically has been around for 200 years if you count its existence as a pastry shop before becoming a restaurant. However, Delmonico’s is not just one of the oldest steakhouses in America, it is also one of the best steakhouses in NYC and one of the best steakhouses in America overall I would argue! Arguably the world too.

Many dishes were invented at Delmonico’s. The list goes on and on. It includes wedge salad, eggs benedict, chicken a la king, and of course, the Delmonico steak. The delmonico steak, aka a boneless ribeye, was invented at Delmonico’s and still bears its name today. Delmonico’s also invented the baked alaska, an incredible dessert and quickly becoming one of my favorites!

Delmonico’s may be the oldest steakhouse in America, but is it still one of the best? We’ll find out together!

  1. My favorite steakhouse. That Delmonico medium rare is the best steak I’ve ever had

  2. The Delmonico has always been a ribeye! There is no thing as a surprise cut! That server doesn’t know what he is talking about

  3. How do they even have a landlord. You would think the owners would own the building at this point. Delmonico inside is used in John Wick as the interior of the continental.

  4. I remember Tads steakhouse that was good you could see them grill it and it was cheap at that time.

  5. 10:50 – Dang, hate to harp on this but working at such a high-end place, you expect a little more friendly service. Almost seemed bothered to take UA’s order but we all have bad days but then again, your job is to be “on” while on the job.

  6. What a treat. I did notice though they could use some routine maintenance. The desk where you check in had a lot of dings and scratches and some dining chair seats looked like they had sagged quite a bit…to the point of being uncomfortable. But given the age of the restaurant, maybe it’s unavoidable.

  7. In your review you mentioned The Continental Hotel in John Wick. Exterior shots were filmed at the historic Beaver Building (1 Wall Street Court) in NYC's Financial District. Interior scenes were shot at Delmonico's Restaurant, and Cipriani.

  8. UA they gave you ripe Gorgonzola cheese with your wedge salad. Too bad you didn't attend the Milano/Cortina Olympics, ground zero for grand funky cheese.

  9. TRULY SCRUMPTIOUS UA 🥗🥖🧈🥩🍨 THANKS FOR BRINGING US ALONG I AM SIPPING A GLASS OF RED WINE 🍷🍇 WATCHING YOU ENJOY YOUR WONDERFUL MEAL 💖🌷💕🧚‍♀️💕🌷💖🥰🙏🌟🌸
