Chinese restaurants in America are considered fast food: cheap but plentiful, served in a styrofoam clamshell. There are Japanese steakhouses that are considered very upscale, and I've been to some older sit-down Thai restaurants, but Chinese food is either a buffet experience with the lower classes decimating the crab claws, or delivered with free egg rolls.
