@daniellegrobman At least she chose VIPS On a real note, it took moving out to Spain to realize not every diner does all day breakfast. Every diner I went to in the US had the breakfast menu, but it was known that if you asked and they had the ingredients they would do it no matter the time I guess Spain humbled me in this regard. #humbled #cultureshock #lunchbreak #american #madrid

Sometimes the obvious is right in front of our eyes.
I can’t get over the spelling… “ceaser salad” 😂 that’s funny.
A favourite for me was when I visited the most renowned 3 Michelin star restaurant in rural France in 1990. When the cheese course came it, it was served on three trolleys! Probably 60 cheeses on offer, all stunning local specialties. The American woman at the table next to me, looked these all over, and asked if they instead had any processed walnut cheese. I couldn't believe it, but credit to the waiter who said he would ask the chef what he might be able to do.
11:15 Ok I'm done. My eyes hurt. Do they know how to use silverware?
This is so hard to watch.
If you' r NOT really hungry ask for childrens portions but DON'T be dissapointed at the little portions! If i m not really hungry i ask for them to, sometimes i get them sometimes not!? And if you are not used to cutlery ASK for sliced Pizza or ask Pizza to be sliced, THEY WILL DO IT!?😮😊
About pizza. You can argue back and forth, but the best pizza on the planet is to be found in Sweden. Invented by Italians, sure, but perfected by Arabs making it in Sweden. The special Swedish taste and fresh ingredients, the slim wonderful bottoms and the meat fillings perfected by Libanese and Iranian chefs. Fun fact; In Trollhättan, Sweden, the Gov. was intrigued by the pizza shops selling 50 pizza pies a month, but used up 250 pizza cartons. The Gov. got suspicious and ordered the company making the cartons to number them, so no pizza pies could be sold non taxed. (Taxes are high in Sweden) The solution came from the Arabs directly; in just one month they have bought a small company that made pizza cartons, and had a pipe-line with cartons to all pizza places around the city..
Italian food cooked by a grandmother is the way to go. Accept no substitutes.
USA had their own Star Wars program, but they still struggle.
Use the fork.
A 105 year old man was asked what his secret to a long life was. He said only eat until you are 80% full. Eating until you can't eat no more is not a life span extender.
If you want a presliced pizza -just ask!
Otherwise use provided cutlery as the rest of us. Or make 4 slices and eat with your hands. It's not hard at all.
It's a nice way to teach your kid to use a knife and a fork . Also, you can cut it to the bite sizes if your kid's to little for using the knife themselves. The kid then learns how to use a real fork, not the plastic one🤷
17:20 Holy f, she called this a struggle. A freaking struggle to cut a small pizza into 4 pieces, or why not just rip it in two with your hands like a normal person. The only pizza that I expect to be precut for me, is the giant pizza type you order for your entire family.
My whole family when at my nans would walk down to the beach. Thats a 30 min walk. And nan would take the dog too.. we was out doing that for close to 2 hours sometimes.
But we also walk down to the Midtown to hit a restaurant even with 3-4 cars outside whatever house we're in. So thats also 20-30 min walk for us. We dont take cars when its not needed at all. When under 60 you dont have this old man attitude to walking about. Its what we prefer to do. Even with prams and babies. Taking a car like ita the go to thing is seen as weak and a bit unmanly. Cars are for something that needs a 30 min drive ( and remember there's no traffic jams here at all, i have never seen a longer pause in driving than 2 minutes ) so 30 min is 30 min, so if we have to go that far and might shop a bit in another town, or even pick a TV or dvd up for somebody, thays when the car becomes a sane choice.. Not just for going downtown to get a meal. Thats would be insane here. We want to walk it off afterwards. I know a giy that takes the car to the supermarket even though hes in the car for less than 3 minutes.. so i used to think oh, he probably spends 80 dollars or more in there because of the family. Nope 1 carton of milk and 500g of meat. Who the fuck gets in the car for 2-3 things tops ? Hard to take him seriously.
..and you don`t learn to use a knife
Whe can’t judge because they havent deal with it before? What does that mean? They are not used to cut their food before eating it?😂
Well it wasn't a buffet when they ordered dubbel portions so they are paying for it. For normale americanes just order 1 portion. You can always order more if it wasn't filling. That gives you 2 advantages. One if the food isn't that great you can move to another place or buy something else. And 2 portion can varie from place to place or even what you order. I do know some places that even your americanes stomach can't handle an entire full blown meal. Not maney but i ran into them.
Also the nutrionale value (not the caloric one) is ussuale higher in Europe so you are satisfied sooner. At least it works that way for me.
Italien food is great just don't do meat cause it sucks in italy and stay away from what you think is italien food based on what its called in your home country. An italien pizza is nothing like an americane one but its good food and pretty healthy (at least compaired to the americane ones). So your pretty safe with those. A lot of the pasta's are good but they aren't drenched in sauce and don't do the bolognese it sucks in italy.
4:15 If you want an Italian salad, get a Caprese salad. It is alternating slices of tomato and fresh mozzarella, with Basil leaves between, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic. Tasty, fresh and easy to make at home if you want it.
5:50 I agree, I want to try the cuisine of the place I am at, not eat Danish food when I am in another country. I remember back in 1992 I was in Paris, and a couple that were a part of our group were late to the bus because they had been looking for a McD… While we were in an area filled with French bistros and restaurants… facepalm
16:15 Pizza isn't sliced because some might want it sliced in 6, some in 4 (and then fold it), and some want to eat it with knife and fork.
And finally, the best restaurant I remember was on a trip to Prague, Czechia. One evening we were back at our (very cheep) hostel, and didn't want to eat in their so-called "restaurant" (basically a ready meal in a can, put on a plate and heated in the oven).
So, we walked around a bit, and found a "hole-in-the-wall" place where the locals ate when they wanted to eat out. The server could not understand English, or German, or French (the languages we were able to speak), but she must have recognized them, cause she held up a finger and ran inside. A few minutes later, she came back with another girl, who did not work there but could speak English. She translated the menu for us, translated our order for the server, and then went back to her own table (she was a customer!).
I got the BEST roasted pork I have ever gotten, with fresh vegetables and a sauce so thick you could use it to build with. Add to that a beer that I cannot remember the name of (and I am still considering going back JUST to find it again), and it was perfect.
So, my recommendation if you want local food? Find where the locals eat. Not the fancy place that tries to be a Michelin restaurant, and certainly not the tourist traps.
It is just like when you are driving on the motorway/Autobahn. If you want to know what diner has good food for a decent price; look where the truckers are eating.
According to Google when in Italy you are supposed to eat it with a knife and fork.
Caesar, why can no yank spell it ? 😅
Yeah but eating pizza is not hard anywhere. You must be able to use a knife and firk
Should it be a problem to walk 9 minutes? Are you kidding me?
Where is your screensaver from Ian ? I would love that to turn up on my TV…
Pizza in the eww ess is perfected FOR united statesians. Produced for cheapness and convenience. Not for food value. Pizza in Italy has real cheese. Or sometimes no cheese. Their ingredients don't come from plastic bags and freezers.
"OMG, i have to cut my own pizza like the help I am so superior to" is the typical american customer mentality. How entitled and dumb*ss you have to be? It really justifies eveything about Communism.
I had a really nice slice to go pizza in Venezia, lovely :). In Roma we went to a nice Indian restaurant and enjoyed a lovely Indian curry and chatted to our hosts who came from India. Interestingly we noticed that the dishes had been altered to suit the Italian pellet, and i still remember to taste of basil in my Indian curry. Tourists have to realise that food tastes move as you move across the globe, even for the so-called same dish, as the local market has different taste expectations.
You do realize that you get 5 courses, when you order plate of the day,
Don't these people know how to use cutlery
I dont get it, when ever I travel I do my research before I go so I now what legal and whats the does and don'ts, MAGAMORONS are so anoying, arrogant and ignorant, im Canadian always get the royal treatment once they know im not american🤣🤣🤣🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
When will Americans finally understand that Italian pizza isn't eaten with your hands. They will give you a fork and knife, at least in the classic pizzerias.
If you want your pizza cut into slices, go to Domino's or Papa Johns.
Why would you eat Mexican food in Italy? Why not try local foods?
Portugal – Pastéis de nata overrated but bolas de Berlim nham
I don’t like pizza in Italy, I am into the german version of italien pizza . Italien cuisine is massively overrated. For me greek and spanisch food is way better.
Americans eat like children and dress like toddlers…
Cheese on seafood? Ever heard of lobster thermidore?
Oh come on, if you order a pizza you get the cutlery you need to eat it, which includes a knife.
Don't you guys and gals learn how to use a knife at dinner when you are 4 years old or so?
When you want your pizza preslized order one from New York Pizza or Domino's.
That lady is holding a pizza cutter, what did she thing it was?
in usa u have not a pizza but a flat bread with fake cheese and toxic meat.
If americans eat double the amount as us, then how is it possible that our mcdonalds is the same size as yours? Which is to say, they're pretty small. Do you buy two big mac meals at a time?
'WTF', is that the World Taekwondo Faderation? (Real, fact-check it!)
Grtz from NL.
It's a bit ironic when some Americans say people shouldn't judge them, yet the first thing they do when visiting another country is compare everything to how it's done in the U.S. or why the U.S. is supposedly better. I believe that what most people can't stand.
I also don't really understand the weird flex of eating unhealthy amounts of food. I find it more concerning than anything else.
If you do not know how to use a knife and fork to eat, you should sue your parents for failing you.
Pretty sure you could get Spanish food in Italy? Spanish food is fairly close to Mexican as best I know.
I'm a very picky eater, have big issues with unknown foods, when I travel, I don't travel for the food, so I don't judge people who go into restaurants that serve familiar foods to them, I do the same. I'm there to have a good time, not to be anxious for every meal I need to eat. I do realise that for some, food is the most important part of traveling, that is not the case for everyone.
I prefer Pizza on a wooden plate. It feels gross to use a pizza cutter on porcelain.
