Because of the abundance of poppies in Poland, poppy seeds are used in many different foods.This particular dish is eaten only on the night before Christmas.
1 16-oz. package shell or ribbon macaroni, cooked
1 12 1/2-oz. can poppy seed pastry filling
4 tbsp. honey
1 c. heavy cream or half-and-half
1/4 c. golden raisins
2 tbsp. butter or margarine
1. Cook noodles according to directions on package.
2. Meanwhile, combine poppy seed pastry filling, honey, and cream in a mixing bowl and stir until smooth. Stir in raisins.
3. Melt butter in double boiler. Add poppy seed mixture and heat thoroughly.
4. Pour poppy seed mixture over hot, drained noodles and serve immediately.

*To cut the fat content of this recipe, use nonfat half-and-half.
